Holland Pouch

More Holland Pouches by Centerstreet Quilts!  I love making them, but honestly.... I was making too many at a time to really enjoy the process.

One of my favorite steps of making these pouches, is choosing the fabric, the trim and the zippers and zipper pulls.  I used to stress about what fabric to use as the lining, but it really isn't very visible.

I chose the Cotton and Steel squirrel fabric for Charlotte (12) because she thinks squirrels are cute and yellow is her favorite color.  I should really make one for myself because I am like a squirrel.  I get distracted very easily but to my defense, am  always am able to finish my tasks :)

I chose this cute Japanese fabric for Lucy (9) because she loves all stuffed animals and her favorite color is red.

I chose this Japanese fabric of tins of meat for Bridger (17) because he loves bright colors and his favorite color is green.

This bag is for my daughter, Lindsay.  I call it a fashion designer bag and it has an Eiffel Tower zipper pull, and the fabric is Japanese.

This bag is for my son in law Jeremy.  It's the most masculine/cute fabric I have.  The fabric is Cotton and Steel.

This fabric is Girl Power by Riley Blake and is for Kennedy (15).  Her favorite color is green, hence the green m&m zipper pull.  This fabric is so her with all the girls and their sunglasses, lol!

That's it for all my Holland Pouches for now.  I would prefer making only one or two at a time from now on.  I really do love them!

Oh, and I made each of my grandchildren who visited at Christmas a pillow case, the burrito style, tutorial here

Have a great week ❤️

Holland Pouch

I have been having fun sewing Holland Pouches, the pattern is by Centerstreet Quilts.

These are the fabric requirements for the three pouches.  I've made all the sizes and have been making the small pouches in this post.

The girl I made this one for loves the color yellow!

That's a lot of sewing!  I love to shop in my fabric stash for the fabric combinations, that's the best part!  It takes a while to cut the fabric, especially when I'm mass producing them. I'm getting low in my zipper stash too. I love it that when you've sewn a particular pattern so many times, you don't even have to read the instructions!  I'll have more to show you next week :)

Stay Gold

Let me begin by making a confession....I love Ruby Star Society!!!

I think the designers used to work for Cotton and Steel.

I immediately fell in love with this line of fabric called Stay Gold.

I didn't buy the whole fat quarter bundle, just chose my favorites.

Here's a better look.

This is Nedra's layout.  I forgot to mention that Nedra and I made the quilt when we had sew days together. The fabric came with a panel that had the cutest vintage prints.

Here we are last March in Nedra's backyard, in front of her gorgeous orange tree.

Here we are in Nedra's sewing room. Our blocks using the same panel but with different fabrics. They're both beautiful!

Well, here's my gorgeous quilt completely finished!

It measures 75" X 92".

I think the machine quilting is magnificent, so I took some closeups to show you. My friend Pam at Sweet Pzs quilted it.

You can see some older posts about this quilt here.
I'm so in love with this quilt and will be keeping it for myself :)
Have a great Quilty week!

"Christmas Time is Here" quilt

I bought this Riley Blake panel at my local quilt shop before Christmas last year. It reminded me so much of my Christmases growing up as a child. So.....much.....snow! When everything is covered with a fresh coat of a foot or more of snow, it's so peaceful.

The pop of color on the white/gray background is so stunning!

I watched Camille Roskelly's trunk show on the Fat Quarter Shop's you tube about a month ago. I found it very inspiring. One of things that I noticed is that her favorite pattern for machine quilting her quilts is the crosshatch and Baptist fan. I can machine quilt some of my quilts in the crosshatch design :)

This is my first Christmas quilt that I'm quilting for myself.

This Riley Blake panel is called "Christmas Time is Here" and it's very soft!

I think it looks great right here!

Or maybe slung across a chair like this....

I wanted some red pinky for the back, it looks so soft and inviting.

This is what the four cornerstones look like up close.

 Twas the night before Christmas.

Have a great week!

Christmas Sewing

I posted about the cute stable and manger people last week on my blog, you can see it here. I made it for these cute grand daughters.
Reagan is 12, Paisley is 8, Taylor is  and Riley is 4.
I hope they have lots of fun with it this holiday season :)

I also made them these Santa pillowcases using the burrito method.
Have you tried it? It's so easy and pretty fast to put together.
It adds a nice cuff with trim too, pretty fancy!
The tutorial is by Lovely Little Handmades. I use it all the time!  You can find the tutorial  here.

I'm hoping to get a quilt quilted this week, happy quilting to you ❤️

Joyful, Joyful Stable panel

I love anything that Stay Iest Hsu creates.  This season she has a darling fabric line called Joyful Joyful. She has included a panel of the nativity. I bought two of them! I made one this season for my son's family and I'm saving the other for a gift for next year.

I just love them!  Here are the 3 wise men and the shepherd and the angel Gabriel.

The lamb, the camel and the donkey.

On the back of each little person is their name, how cute!

The 3 wisemen.

On the outside of the stable, Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus are in one of the windows.

The velcro closures work really well.  I had to go to Walmart to buy my velcro, it was my only option at the time. They only had the self stick version which I did not like at all.  When I sewed it, the needle became sticky and there was lots of glue residue everywhere. In the future, I'll only but the sew on velcro that is sold by the yard.

On the bottom of the stable is a label to personalize your gift.

Here's the whole gang.  Baby Jesus has his own little cradle that you can put him in. I think Stacy did a wonderful job with her new creation.  It will make a lot of children happy! ❤️

Happy American Thanksgiving!

We all have so much to be grateful for :)

Crosley Pouch

I really love this Crosley Pouch by Centerstreet Quilts. I love it so much, that I've made approximately 26 of them!

I made a Little Red Riding Hood pouch and a cute little hedge hog one. They both have little polka dot toadstool zipper pulls.

I made a Southwestern themed pouch with a converse running shoe zipper pull and a cupcake pouch with a red m&m zipper pull.

Lastly, I made a Christmas pouch out of Christmas Morning fabric by Lella Boutique.

I buy my zippers from YKK zippers on Etsy. They always include a free zipper pull like the one I have on the Christmas pouch.

I won't be sewing much the next couple of weeks, as I have family coming to visit us for Thanksgiving.

Family time is even better than sewing time. ❤️
