RBD Block Challenge 2022

I really enjoyed this quilt along.  I chose some Tasha Noel fabric, aqua, navy, green, pink and red.  I have a healthy stash of Tasha Noel, she's one of my favorite designers :)

For the background, I used one of Lori Holt's bee backgrounds, daisy pink.  I used a Kona pink for the Irish chain squares.

I was happily making all the blocks every week, and was all caught up.  That's the fun of a quilt along, to be on task and see everyone else's cool creations. Otherwise, I always feel like I'm lagging behind.

When I saw that the finished quilt was an Irish Chain design, I was really surprised!  So many squares! I chain pieced them....

...until I had a neat little stack.

Here are the blocks that I completed, and put on my design wall.

I changed the order of the blocks a little. We had to add a block of our choice, of course I added the red maple leaf block.

Here is the completed quilt top.  I really love it!  There is a lot of pink in this quilt but I think that it makes the blocks pop.  I have no idea what I'm going to do with this quilt or any of the others I'm making right now.  Maybe I'll amass another 27 quilts and give them all away to my kids and grandkids again.  Or maybe I'll tag each quilt for a great grandchild.  Even if I'm not around to give it to them, their parents can do the gifting for me.
I'm excited to get this quilt quilted and will show you a photo when I do.  My unfinished quilt tops are piling up!

This is my favorite block in the quilt, the one designed by Lori Holt.

RBD Block Challenge

I just have to make one more block and I'll have my 16 blocks completed for the challenge.

I belong to a Facebook page for this group and people have been talking about a 17th block!  I don't know how the odd number will fit into a quit setting, and am very excited to see what the mystery is.

Luckily, I have two extra blocks that I made at the beginning that I can use :) I really love all these Tasha Noel fabrics, have always wanted to make a quilt out of them!

I'll show you my progress later.  Thanks for following along!

Riley Blake Design block challenge 2022

I'm caught up on my RBD block challenge.  I have really enjoyed making these blocks from Tasha Noel fabrics!

These are on my design wall, I have two extra blocks that I'll probably sew onto the back to make the quilt more interesting.

Thanks for following along ❤️

WIP

I've been working on a lot of projects, but don't have any cute photos to show you except the blocks on my design wall.

I'm up to date on the Riley Blake Design Block challenge, using Tasha Noel fabric.  I made another leaf block and another block with the heart in the center.  I made use the duplicates on the back of the quilt. I have 8 blocks completed, so halfway there.  The blocks are released every Tuesday, except for the last Tuesday of the month.

I'm also making the Heartfelt blocks from Fat Quarter shop. I had a fat quarter bundle of "Just Red" by Zen Chic and have been looking for something special to make with it.  I am using the beautiful Corey Yoder background just like the pattern.

I'm also enjoying the 31 days of Amy's Creative Side's Instagram quilt fest.  Sometimes it's a little challenging finding the photo, but it's so much fun seeing what other people write about.

Have a great Quilty week!

Riley Blake Design Block Challenge

I just can't refuse a "sew along"!  Lori Holt designed the first block called Daisy Chain and that just melted my heart ❤️

I'm tempted to make a whole quilt out of this block, it's 10" square.

I changed my color scheme.  I'm still going to use Tasha Noel fabric but it won't be as scrappy.  With my previous blocks, I just chose the Tasha Noel prints and colors that I thought would look good in the block.  Now, I chose 5 colors, 2 prints of each.

(The polka dot isn't Tasha Noel, don't know if I'll use it yet)

I think it will have a much more uniform look.

This is my previous Sweetheart block, when I just chose cute colors :)

This is my current block with the new color scheme,
a selection of five colors.

This is the leaf block which I totally love and may still use...

This is my new leaf block which I love also!

Block #4 is the tulip block.

Here are all four of my blocks with the new color scheme, just 5 colors.  I love Tasha Noel fabric and I know this quilt will be so pretty when it's finished.  The background I'm using is called pink posy by Lori Holt.

Happy Quilting everyone ❤️❤️❤️

Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge

I wasn't going to join the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge, but when I saw this beautiful block that Lori Holt designed, I couldn't resist!  It's called the Daisy Chain block. I went to my stash and thought it would be fun to use some of my Tasha Noel fabric.  Little flowers, toadstools and geese, just love all of it!

I made a mistake, but it was easy to correct :). Instead of just choosing colors and prints that I love for each block, I should have chosen the fabric for all of my blocks first.  I love these colors together in this Sweetheart block designed by Beverly McCullough.

Lastly, is the maple leaf block designed by Kristy Lea.  I just had to make it in red, because in Canada, all of the maple trees turn a brilliant red in the fall.  I saw some scrappy leaves on Instagram that people created and really liked them too. Maybe I'll try a scrappy leaf and see how it plays in the quilt when it's finished.  I could use one of them on the back.

After I made the first three blocks, I decided to pull the fabrics I'm using in the quilt.  The blush pinks are a little off from the rest of the color tones but I think they'll still look really good in the quilt.  Everything can't be matchy matchy, or it won't be interesting.
Oh, and the background fabric is by Lori Holt, I think it's called posy.

The RBD Block Challenge is every Tuesday except for the last Tuesday of each month.  There will be 16 - 10" finished blocks.

Block #16 will be posted on May 17.  Each block is designed by an amazing Riley Blake designer.  Even though I'm trying some new things this year, I can't stop quilting.  The possibilities are endless and so is my fabric!

Thanks for following along ;)
