Maple Leaf quilt block

Welcome to the Maple Leaf block quilt along!

You can get the block pattern free from the Fat Quarter shop here.
The block was really easy, just half square triangles sewn together.
It sewed together pretty quickly, which is always a good thing!

I wanted to sew four blocks, each in a vivid fall color.

I haven't enjoyed a beautiful fall season since I left Canada.

My favorite fall leaf color is red, Canada's national symbol.

My blocks are all sewn, I just need to sew them together.

Now I have a cute little table topper, it's all machine quilted.

Here's the fabric I chose for the back.
This was one of the first fabrics I bought when I began quilting, before I even had a fabric stash.

My little queen squirrel looks cute on my Maple Leaf table topper.

There's a fat quarter shop video tutorial on you tube for the block.
If you would like to purchase the quilt pattern, it's only $5.95 and you can buy it here at the Fat Quarter Shop.
Hope you enjoyed seeing my photos of the Maple Leaf block and thanks for visiting my blog :)

A Very Vintage Christmas Sew Along

I absolutely love this book!!!
It's like all of my childhood memories came alive!
Yes, I'm vintage, and all the blocks in this quilt remind me of my childhood :)

Here's my little dolly, isn't she lovely?

She was so easy to put together.

I couldn't decide which photo to use!

I sewed little Dolly in a 12" size and turned her into a placemat for one of my grand daughters :)

I embroidered a little face on her and she came alive :)

I just love my new dolly placemat!

Perfect 10 Sampler quilt along, week 3

Welcome back to the Perfect 10 quilt along with
the Fat Quarter Shop.
These blocks are made with 10" layer cakes, from the book Perfect 10 and the Creative Grids Perfect 10 ruler.
They are quick and fun to make!

Week number 3 is brought to you by the "coffee" block.

The block takes two 10" squares and makes
two mirror image blocks.

I'm using Lori Holt's Autumn Love fabric line for my blocks.

Next, we have the "cookie dough" block.
Cookie dough ice cream is one of my favorites,
especially if it's Blue Bell ice cream!

Are you quilting along?
I hope so, these weekly blocks are very doable :)
All the information you need is on Fat Quarter Shop's blog,

Follow these quilters and see what their cute blocks look like :)

Perfect 10 Sampler quilt along, Week 2

Welcome to Week 2 of the Perfect 10 Sampler QAL!
This week, I made two Buttered Pecan blocks,
doesn't that sound scrumptious?
This brown print from Autumn Love is one of my favorite prints from the fabric line.
The directions are great in the Perfect 10 quilt book.
I made two of these blocks, they're exactly the same!

I was a little more creative in taking this photo,
it's the Coconut block.
My favorite color is red!

These blocks can be found in the Perfect 10 Quilts book at the Fat Quarter shop.
Their Perfect 10 Creative Grids ruler is "perfect" for cutting the layer cakes too!

Please take a look at these bloggers and see what their
Buttered Pecan and Coconut blocks look like :)

Perfect 10 Sampler quilt along, week 1

I'm sewing this Perfect 10 quilt for the
Perfect 10 Fat Quarter Shop quilt along.
This is the first block, it's called "banana" block.
I thought it would be appropriate to use yellow fabric :)

I'm using Lori Holt's Autumn Love by Riley Blake.
The quilt is made using a layer cake.
I'll be using Cream Gunny Sack for the background
and the red fabric from the same line, for the binding.
Of course, I'll be sewing with white Aurifil thread, my favorite.

This is the Birthday Cake block.
I decided to use pink, which is what I like my birthday cakes to be.
These are really easy blocks to sew.

This is the Perfect 10 quilt, pretty cute!
The blocks all have dessert names, which makes them very yummy.

You can follow my awesome fellow bloggers as they participate
in the Perfect 10 quilt along :)

Ayumi's lunch bag tutorial

My grand daughter Maisie, asked me if I would make her a "scripture bag".
I think she saw that some of her cousins had them
and really wanted one :)

Maisie loves animals, so I made a bag
with this very cute turtle fabric.

I didn't mean to make it as pink as it turned out, but out of all the fabrics in my stash, these ones looked the best together!

I really love the text on the handles :)

Luckily I was able to give the bag to Maisie in person, I think she liked it!
Doesn't she have the cutest face and the best laugh?

Ayumi from Pink Penguin, has an easy tutorial for making these bags.
You can see it here.
I have made so many of these bags, they're great!!!

Moroccan Lullaby

I belong to the Bees Knees, a quilting bee.
We've had and still have some pretty famous quilt fabric and pattern designers in our group.
I was so fortunate to be asked to join, this is my 5th year, I think :)
We took a little break and started off our new year this month.
It was Melissa Corry's turn, from the blog Happy Quilting Melissa.
She designed a quilt named Moroccan Lullaby.

I photography my unfinished 20 l/2" block in our new backyard in Arizona with the desert scape in the background.

This is a photo of Moroccan Lullaby,
with all the blocks sewn together.
It can be made in many sizes and so many different
fabric combinations.

Aprons for little girls!

When your grand daughter asks you to make her an apron, you make her an apron.
But when you make her an apron, her sisters wants an apron.
So, I made all 3 of them an apron :)
I gave them some choices of fabric, and they were able to choose their own prints.

I measured them when they visited, but when I cut out the pieces, they looked way too tiny!
This is Neo's apron, she wanted the owls.

Neo is the one who asked me to make her an apron :)

Kylie chose the kitty cat fabric.

I think she likes it!
Kylie made the best smoothie I've ever had, on my birthday :)

This is Izzy's apron.
When I first made it, I thought it would fit on my 18" doll,
but it was a little big for Red Rose.

Here's Izzy in her apron!!!

I didn't use a pattern, because aprons are easy.
I only gathered the skirt l l/2 times to the waistband.
If I were to make another, I would make the skirt wider on the waistband and make it more gathered.
I love sewing for those I love!!!
