Rebecca's table runner

I made a table runner for my daughter, and she wanted it to match her carpet.
Here are 3 separate views of her carpet...

These are 5 of the colors swatches that she sent me.
I chose them for the main colors of the table runner.

I chose this color for the sashing, it matched up to Kona avocado perfectly!

I went to my local quilt shop and matched the color swatches to all the bolts of fabric.
I bought a half yard of each piece, and a yard of the Kona.
I cut 5" squares of the 5 main fabrics and cut some of them in half.
The sashing strips are l l/2" wide.
I used a pattern that I got from my favorite quilt shop, Pine Needles in West Jordan, Utah during one of their quilt shop hops.

I put a 5" strip of some pretty "Liberty" style fabric on each end, with some matching rick rack.

I love how happy and bright this table runner is.
I backed it with leftover pieces.

It looks great on my black dining room table and shows off the photos of 2 of my sweet grandchildren, Maisie and Benjamin.

Quilty Update

Recently, I posted about some gifts that I made for special people :)
I made a "sweet and simple" table runner which was a part of Lori Holt's "Scrappy Summer Sew Along".
I made the table runner for my daughter in law, Mabulane.
She had recently bought a hall table and thought it needed color to perk it up, hence the table runner :)
She sent me a photo of her table runner in its new home.
I love the way she decorates!

One of my cute little 3 l/2 year old grand daughters has a cute little white dresser in her room.
It also looked kind of lonely and needed some color, specifically pink!!!
Here is the post of the table runner I made for Neo.
Here's the table runner's new home.

Then I made the Layer Cake Lemonade Quilt from Lori Holt's line of fabric, "Millie's Closet", for my mother in law who is undergoing chemotherapy treatments for lymphoma.
Glenda is so brave, and she is a survivor!!!
She survived breast cancer when she was in her early thirties, and was recently cancer free from lymphoma for over 5 years.
The lymphoma came back, but we are sure she can beat it because she has lots of faith and lots of determination!
My father in law sent me this photo on Monday, of Glenda at her third chemotherapy treatment, snuggling in the quilt I made her :)

It's the best feeling to know that my quilts have all gone to homes that appreciate them :)
What more could a quilter ask for?
More fabric? Ha ha!!!

Table runner

When I was visiting my son and his family, I noticed that my grand daughter could use a table runner on her bedroom dresser which was white and needed some color.
I have the cutest pattern made out of a charm pack, or 5" squares.
Every other charm square is cut in half to create a piece 2 l/2" X 5".
Pink is my grand daughter Neo's favorite color, so I chose the "prettiest pinks" for this project.

My little 3 l/2 year old darling loves princesses, so I added this fabric onto each end along with some jumbo rick rack.

I sashed the charms with Kona white and began quilting.

I straight stitch quilted l/4" inside of each square and rectangle.
I used a wavy stitch in the middle of the white sashing.

Once I finished quilting, I used Clover clips and hand stitched the binding, one of my favorite part of the quilting process.
I enjoy sitting and hand stitching.

My table runner is finished, yay!!!

This binding was left over from my paper doll quilt that I finished last summer.

This is the back of the table runner that I pieced.
On each end is fabric with princess dresses and crowns.
The table runner is reversible for a different look.

All tied up with a bow and sent in the mail :)
Now onto another project I promised another grand daughter.

Scrappy Summer Sew Along - Sweet and Simple Table Runner

I made this Scrappy Happy table runner, you can find the tutorial at Bee in my Bonnet here.

After sewing all the Easy Corner Triangles, I had these triangles left over.
They were big enough to cut l l/2" squares.

I layed out all my little squares, plus others that I retrieved from my l l/2" square box.

I used my Alphabitties and labelled all the colored sections.
I had never used them before, and discovered that they were invaluable.
I always get my little blocks mixed up and out of order.
Not this time!  Thank you Alphabitties!
You can find them at the Fat Quarter Shop, and they're very
inexpensive :)

Here's my table runner all sewn together, and waiting for the border.
I used a Lakehouse dot for the background, one I've had for a few years.

I'm making this table runner for my daughter in law.
She got a new hall table and I offered to make her a table runner.
She wanted me to use some bright colors.
The border I used tones down the bright colors a bit and it has inspirational quotes that add whimsy!

The border is 2" finished, here is another closeup of all the cute little prints that I used.

Scrappy squares can be very meaningful.
I can tell you what project I used each and every piece of fabric for.

I'm a sucker for polka dots and cherries and gingham :)

Here's the finished table runner.
I am going to call the repair shop today and see if my sewing machine has been fixed.
I really miss it and have a long line of projects waiting to be quilted.

Thanks for stopping by, I'll see you again in a couple of days :)

Scrappy Happy Summer Sew Along, Table Runner

I'm a month behind on this sew along, because I was visiting my children and grandchildren :)
I showed you my pattern along with most of my Lori Holt fabric.
I decided to use one of my favorite lines, Sew Cherry!

This is the first time I have cut into my Sew Cherry stash!
I've used a little bit here and there, but I'm afraid I'll run out...
Lori said that I can contact Riley Blake and ask them to reprint any of our favorite lines.
Here are my layouts to make sure all the colors went together well.

Instead of the usual white, I decided to use Kona Aqua for the background.

These are all the triangles that are left from my Easy Corner Triangles.
I'll put them to good use soon and show you what I make :)

Here's my second entry.
My first quilt project, a long table runner that I hand quilted.
The journal entry brings back lots of memories.
I pasted fabric swatches on the page.
