A Very Vintage Christmas placemats

I made some more placemats.  I wasn't going to because I didn't think I would have enough time.  When I heard that my daughter and her husband and children were coming for a quick visit, I knew I had to make placemats for them this year instead of waiting until next year.  I can always squeeze in time for sewing.

This is four year old Jacob, and he loved his stocking and candy!

This is my daughter Rebecca, I made her the vintage ornament.

This is 10 year old Maisie, she loved her Christmas tree.

This is 8 year old Benjamin, he loved his snowman.

I also made them each a Christmas pillowcase to take home with them, and a rollie pollie little stuffed animal too.
I can never spoil the grandchildren enough!

I've made 28 very vintage placemats, and just have two more to make for my daughter and her husband, next year.

Lori Holt Vintage Christmas placemats

I have been making lots of placemats using 12" blocks
from Lori Holt's Vintage Christmas book.
My Farm Girl Chick quilt group had a Christmas party, placemat exchange last week.
We each made 2 placemats to exchange, and did we ever have fun!!
I made HIS and HERS snowmen :)

I used Cotton and Steel fabric on the back.
It was difficult to part with, as I was hording it...but I bought it for this reason, so I cut into it :)

Nancy, pictured below in her Christmas leggings,
is the Mama Hen of our Farm Girl Chick group.
She always makes everything so much fun!!!
She got some full page Christmas images
and cut them in half in a puzzle piece.
We all reached into the bag and pulled out our puzzle piece, and looked for the fellow chick who had the matching piece.
Nancy and Diane were matches :)
Nancy is holding the placemats that Diane made and gifted to her.

Brenda and Shirley

Guess whose puzzle piece I matched with?
That's right, my bestie Nedra.
We were so thrilled to exchange with each other :)

Aren't all the placemats beautiful?
We have so much fun at our group,
these women are blessings to me :)

A Very Vintage Christmas

I'm going to make a set of placemats for
each member of our family.
I may only have time to make them for one family a year though!
I just love this Santa!!!
I machine quilted curls on his beard :)

I made the vintage ornament, which I also love!
The pocket on the right side holds utensils, a napkin and maybe a cute paper straw.

A bonus photo of me, lol!!!

I made the toy soldiers, which I call the tin soldiers.
They had a lot of pieces!

I'm partial to the ice skate, which I call the figure skate.
How I wished I had pink figure skates when I was taking lessons many years ago :)
We put skate covers on top of our skates to match our outfits.

I machine stitched a cursive "K" for Kennedy.
If I had to do it over again, I would machine quilt the skate,
it's a pretty large surface to leave unquilted.
Then I would hand embroider a red K.

Mr. Ginger is so cute!!!
If I make him again, I would embroider his face in white so it would show up better.
I used vintage ric rac for the trim.

Dolly is very pretty!
I like her sparkly blonde hair :)

I loved receiving photos of my daughter and son in law with their placemats.

My grandchildren loved them!
Don't they match their personalities!

They said they felt very festive with their Christmas placemats Saturday morning when they had fancy donuts and other delicous food for breakfast.

I made 9 l//2" pot holders for our gift exchange at my
Farm Girl Chicks quilt group.

I chose pretty fabric for the back :)

This book is full of awesomeness, I'll be sewing Christmas projects for many years!
I really want to make the cover quilt, but I might not get it finished for a couple of years.
I've always wanted a Christmas bed set!

Have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones!

A Very Vintage Christmas Sew Along

This is the best book ever!!!
Have you seen it yet?
Scroll to the bottom, and there's a photo of
A Very Vintage Chrstimas by Lori Holt.
I made Mr. Cookie :)
Adorable name for an adorable quilt block!!!
Easy peasy to sew, mine is 12"
with some vintage ric rac that I've been hoarding :)

I made Mr. Cookie into a placemat for Christmas!
When I make another Mr. Cookie, I'll embroider his face in white instead of red, it would show up better.
I used Lori's Cute Little Buttons too!!!

Lori's new book is completely awesome, just like she is in real life!
Each little block is designed with love from memories of her childhood.
Every block comes in 6" and 12" sizes.
Lori has so many quilt ideas in the book and I've seen people
"make their quilts their own" with Lori's designs.
The possibilities are endless!
I can see myself making Christmas quilts for the rest of my quilty life and never getting bored because each and every block is so darn cute!!!!
