One Yard Apron

I made a One Yard Apron, the instructions are by Lori Holt.  Instead of adding two pockets in the front, I added a continuous pocket piece with I divided into four. I made it for my daughter in law who has just become a second grade teacher :)

Here's a close up of the fabric, alphabet letters and instructions on how to make a pillowcase.  I thought the children would enjoy reading the words. I wonder what she's going to put in all those pockets!

I've made this pattern before, I really like it.  You can see the others I've made here.

See you on Thursday for the Jolly Bar 4 QAL.

Jolly Bar 4 QAL, week Three

I'm really enjoying this quilt along sponsored by the Fat Quarter Shop.

This is the Galway block, very easy. All the blocks are beginner.  It's been fun choosing the colors and prints for the blocks.

This is the Curio block.  I decided to use the Santa prints because the pieces are bigger.

You can follow the Fat Quarter Shop's blog, the Jolly Jabber where you can see these blocks in other fabrics.

Week Two

See you next Thursday for Week Three!

Jolly Bar 4 QAL, week Two

Welcome to Week 2 of the Jolly Bar 4 QAL.

You can find out the instructions for this week's blocks on

Fat Quarter Shop's blog, Jolly Jabber. Although you still need the Jolly Bar 4 book for the dimensions of the blocks.

This first block is called Stained Glass and can be found on page 60. It's a lot of fun choosing which fabrics I'll be using as I go along.

This block is called Herb Garden. In the book, they show you what a quilt would look like with just this block, and everything you need to know is included.  The book really is pretty cool!  There are 20 quilt patterns in all.

I'll look forward to seeing you next week :)

Jolly Bar 4 QAL, Week One

Today is the first day of the Jolly Bar 4 QAL,

hosted by Fat Quarter Shop.

All of the information will be on their blog, the Jolly Jabber.

Here is the book that has all of the blocks and cutting info.

This is what the finished quilt will look like.

These are the Jolly Bars I'm using.  I need two of them.

Holly Jolly by Urban Chiks, a cute Christmas line.

Here is my first block, Shirley Temple. Candy canes for a sweet block which measures 10 1/2" square.

The next block is called Whoopsie Daisy

and it measures 11 1/2" square.

Both blocks were very easy, this is definitely a quilt for a beginner.
I've never sewn with Jolly Bars before, I'm really enjoying it so far!
See you next Thursday for Week Two ❤️

You can read a previous post about the quilt along here.

Stay Gold

I belong to the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild. I shared my Stay Gold quilt with fabric from Ruby Star Society, and my friend Nedra pointed out that I matched my quilt :)

Also, my dear young friend Sarah came over and we made Raspberry Lemon Curd macarons together.  It was a lot of fun!!!

I will be posting on Thursdays for the Jolly Bar 4 quilt along.

I will see you Thursday ❤️

Have a fun, Quilty week!

Jolly Bar 4 Quilt Along

I've joined the Jolly Bar 4 Quilt Alongsponsored by the Fat Quarter Shop.  What's a Jolly Bar you ask?  It's sold exclusively at the Fat Quarter Shop. It's a pack of each fabric in a collection, usually about 42 pieces, 5" X 10". Kimberly Jolly and her husband Kevin are the owners of Fat Quarter Shop, hence the name Jolly Bar.

The Jolly Bar book is also 5" X 10" and is very easy to use with the spiral binding. The book retails for $10.95 which is very inexpensive for a book with 84 color pages and 20 quilt patterns.  Here are all the blocks in the book, and each block has step by step color instructions along with directions on how to make an entire quilt out of the one block.  There are a lot of really cute ones.

I talked about this quilt along on my blog in October and asked you to vote for the Jolly Bar that you liked the best.  Kitty Corn, a Halloween line of fabric got the most votes.  Unfortunately, the Jolly Bars were sold out.  The next highest votes were for Holly Jolly by Urban Chiks. I have always loved this collection, so I was thrilled to sew with it!  I always love Lori Holt fabric but wanted to spread my wings and try something a little different.

Did I mention that every Jolly Bar comes with a free pattern?

Here's a photo of the quilt we will be making.  It has one of almost every block that's in the Jolly Bar 4 book.  The quilt along begins on Thursday, January 19 and is every week until March 16.  I'll be posting 2 blocks a week here on my blog and on Instagram and Facebook.

Here are the goodies that I unboxed from Fat Quarter Shop! It will take 2 Jolly Bars to make the quilt. The red gingham is the binding, the pink candy cane goes where the gray I on the quilt and the Lori Holt bee basic is the background.

I'm so excited about this, I love quilt alongs :)

I hope you'll join me!

Holland Pouch

More Holland Pouches by Centerstreet Quilts!  I love making them, but honestly.... I was making too many at a time to really enjoy the process.

One of my favorite steps of making these pouches, is choosing the fabric, the trim and the zippers and zipper pulls.  I used to stress about what fabric to use as the lining, but it really isn't very visible.

I chose the Cotton and Steel squirrel fabric for Charlotte (12) because she thinks squirrels are cute and yellow is her favorite color.  I should really make one for myself because I am like a squirrel.  I get distracted very easily but to my defense, am  always am able to finish my tasks :)

I chose this cute Japanese fabric for Lucy (9) because she loves all stuffed animals and her favorite color is red.

I chose this Japanese fabric of tins of meat for Bridger (17) because he loves bright colors and his favorite color is green.

This bag is for my daughter, Lindsay.  I call it a fashion designer bag and it has an Eiffel Tower zipper pull, and the fabric is Japanese.

This bag is for my son in law Jeremy.  It's the most masculine/cute fabric I have.  The fabric is Cotton and Steel.

This fabric is Girl Power by Riley Blake and is for Kennedy (15).  Her favorite color is green, hence the green m&m zipper pull.  This fabric is so her with all the girls and their sunglasses, lol!

That's it for all my Holland Pouches for now.  I would prefer making only one or two at a time from now on.  I really do love them!

Oh, and I made each of my grandchildren who visited at Christmas a pillow case, the burrito style, tutorial here

Have a great week ❤️
