Paper Doll WIP

Welcome back to Paper Doll Friday ♥

Here's the center of the quilt, I changed the dolls' hair to blonde and named them Rebecca Louise and Lindsay Leigh after my two oldest daughters who are only 16 months apart.

They are grown women now, with children of their own :)

It took me 2 whole weeks to cut and sew the sashing and sew all the blocks together.

I am thrilled to have the top done, I just need to add the 2" border.

My husband and I went for an early evening drive in my convertible and found this place to hang my quilt top.

Isn't it beautiful?  I am in awe of myself for finally finishing it, ha ha!!!

My husband had the bright idea to include me in the photo.

I'm wearing a hat to keep my hair from flying all over the place!

It's really difficult to see all the detail, but you can search paper doll quilt to the right of the blog and I have tutorials on the applique, and all sorts of detailed photos.

I'm really anxious to see how Cindy quilts my paper dolls, I know she will be so creative :)
Unfortunately Cindy is booked for a while and I won't be able to post my finished 

Vintage Retro, "Sweet Life" WIP

I made a table topper from Camille Roskelley's "Sweet Life" pattern, you can read about it here. 

The pattern can be found in Camille's book, "Simply Retro".

She gave her readers a tip:  "Sew together the triangles you trimmed from the Flying Geese to make half square triangles.  Sew these in rows to make a throw pillow top or a small quilt."

I don't know why I never thought of that before!

I only made 4 blocks for my table topper, but......

I was able to make this cute chevron place mat.

There were still half square triangles left, so I made some mug rugs.

I still have to quilt everything at an undisclosed and unknown date, but I will definately show you the finished projects!

Silo Barn #4

Well, I finished my fourth silo barn.

I think my little egg basket block turned out really cute :)

I copied the fabrics that Lori used for her silo barn very closely.

I have a collection of all her fabric lines in my stash, and was very excited to use this print from "Daisy Cottage" for the silo.

After further inspection, I notice that the little gingham print blends into the linen background, not so good!

I'm thrilled with the little girl in the window!

She's gathering eggs from the chicken to put in the egg basket :)

The fabric is from Aneela Hooey's "Posy" line.

I have a weakness for children's prints!

Paper Doll WIP

Welcome to paper doll Friday ♥

I am sewing over 1000 l l/2" little squares together for the sashing.

There just isn't enough room on the floor to lay out all the blocks.

I don't want the blocks to get wrinkled, so I pinned some twine along one wall of my sewing room and attached the blocks with clothespins.

Ignore the "sports" border on the wall!

With all my pretty sewing things surrounding me, I never notice it!

As I counted some of the strips, I laid them over my pennant so that they wouldn't get mixed up with the uncounted ones.

Simply Retro, "Sweet Life" Table Topper WIP

We bought a new kitchen table, and I wanted to make a table topper for it.

I bought Camille Roskelley's new book "Simply Retro".

I decided to make "Sweet Life", a really cute pattern.

One of the things I love about this particular pattern, is that it really shows of your fabric.

I have a collection of Bonnie and Camille's fabric.

Conicidentaly, my kitchen is decorated in red and aqua.

These are my fabric selections.

I'm so happy that I'm dipping into my fabric stash!

That's the reason I have one, I'm not crazy about the fabric selections at the local quilt shops.  

I stock up on cute fabric when I visit my children in Utah :)

Here are the finished blocks.

The finished blocks are 18" square.

I'm looking forward to machine quilting it really soon :)

I wanted the middle square to be the focal point.

I fussy cut one of the fabrics and it was the perfect size!

 It almost looks like applique, doesn't it?

I'll post more photos when I get the table topper quilted and bound.

Quilty Barn Along, Vintagey Farm Girl Tractor Block

Hi Everyone, happy Monday :)

I love the Quilty Barn Along that Lori Holt is doing on her blog, Bee in my Bonnet.

It has been so much fun choosing fabrics, and making all the barns and barns with their silos come to life!  

I didn't grow up on a farm but as a child we would travel to Prince Edward Island every summer to visit all of our relatives on both my parent's sides of the family.....grandparents, great grandparents, great aunts, great uncles, aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins, you get the idea :)

Quite a few of my great uncles were dairy farmers.

They had the most beautiful farms, I wish I had some photos....

The Quilt Barn Along has meant a lot to me, brought back some great memories!

Here is my "Vintagey Farm Girl Tractor" as Lori calls it.

I like the tires, they look as though they have huge treads!

Paperdoll Quilt WIP

My daughter Lindsay and I took this class from Lori Holt, the "master" of applique, everything vintage and all things beautiful!

It is Lori's "Paperdoll" Quilt.

I think our class was 6 or 7 years ago!

Our family moved to Florida, and now we are in California.

I have been working on this gorgeous quilt off and on over the years.

The blocks are all complete, I just have to sew the sashing and the borders.

Sashing and borders doesn't sound too bad, does it?

Did I tell you what the sashing consists of???

That's right!!!

Lori told me to enjoy the journey, so I am :)

Square by square, I may be a little obsessive, but I match each and every color.

Sewing, sewing, sewing, pressing seams open, sewing some more, pressing more seams open, watching old Bette Davis movies, stopping to prepare dinner, sewing and pressing some more.

I'm making some progress :)

A bunch of rows are completed but there's so much more to sew and press.

Stay tuned, I will post my progress on this adorable paperdoll quilt every Friday until it's finished.

That's my promise to myself, and I'm sticking to it :)
