Bee in my Bonnet Row Along, bee quilt label

I completely finished the bee label, embroidery and borders and all!

I decided to make my quilt into a bedspread for my 2 year old grand daughter, Neo.

I also got to skype with our youngest son and missionary, from Brazil!  

It is so much better to skype and see and hear him, than just speak on the telephone.  I don't feel sad ending the conversation.  

He is so happy!

Two of his sisters are having a turn talking to him, with some of their children.

Sean has only seen his 8 month old nephew Benjamin in photos :)

Travel Pillow

I've posted about the "travel pillows" I've made quite a couple of times which you can see here and here.

I even have a tutorial which you can see here.

My son Sean said that he needs a new pillowcase.

I looked at my black prints but settled on this cute retro print of a little boy.  This will be a pillowcase for a 20 year old man!!!  Ha ha!

This is what the back looks like, very vintage looking.

I love making these pillows, I have made so many of them!

The Quilty Barn Along #2

I made the quilt block with some more of my Sew Cherry fabric.

I finished my second barn, yeah!!!

The barns sew up really quickly, the pieces are large.

It would be a good starter project.

There are so many different shades of red!

I think the barns look great together.

The Quilty Barn Along #1

I have been itching to begin this quilt!

This is the first time I've used my Sew Cherry by Lori Holt.

I love it so much, that I'm afraid or worried to use it :)

Anyone else have that problem with fabric they are in love with?

I finished the quilt block.

Notice anything a little off?

I don't often do this, but I unpicked the stitches and resewed.

It looks so much prettier!!!

Bee in my Bonnet Row Along : Quilt Label

This quilt label is so cute!!!  It fits the quilt perfectly :)

I sewed the bee block, but still need to embroider the antenae and the words.  I'll do that next week and show you when it's done.

I cut the sashing strips to border the label.  

I really wanted to use a pink strip but didn't, because the red fabric will be the backing for the quilt.  I didn't think that pink would show up next to the red backing.  Doesn't the print look like little honeycombs for the 

"Bee in my Bonnet Row Along"!  

I have a lot of red on the front of the quilt, it is one of the seven colors I have in my quilt.

I still need to sew the rows of the quilt together and add the sashing and border.  I have everything picked out and of course I will show it all to you when I get it done :)

To Boston with Love

I saw this on some blogs and wanted to be a part of it.

To Boston with Love is a collaborative effort of makers to bring peace and love from far and wide.  What they're planning is a public exhibition of flags strung into banners that will be displayed at a prestigious Boston institution on the Memorial Day weekend.

This effort is sponsored by the Vancouver Modern Arts Quilt Guild.

I have a board on Pinterest that gives you all the information regarding dimensions of the flags, patterns, the address to mail the flags, etc.  The flags must be received by May 21.

I made some "kisses and hugs" flags.

 I can just imagine these little "x's and o's" flags flying in the wind with their colorful backs, and bringing joy to those who see them.

This is my little contribution to all those who were affected by the tragedy in the beautiful city of Boston.

The Weekender Travel Bag

I have seen this bag on various blogs and really liked it!

My daughter will soon be an interior design graduate and needs a large bag to carry her supplies.

This bag would be perfect for her :)

The pattern is a little difficult, but I am sure I can tackle it.

I have a "Weekender Bag" board on Pinterest.

Most of the bags are very bright and colorful.

Vanessa wanted fabric that was more subdued and professional looking.  This is the fabric for the outside of the bag.

It was difficult to get the true colors when we ordered online.

I'm not really sure about the chevron.

I don't think it matches very well but I'm hoping it will look nice together when the bag is sewn together.

Do you think I should try to get a piece that matches better?

This is the fabric and cording for the piping.

Again, the color wasn't true online!

This fabric will be lining, I think it's very rich looking.

These are the rest of the supplies and notions that I will be using when making the bag.  There are two types of interfacing used although I only have one in the photo.  One is very stiff and the other is a soft, woven interfacing.

I would love to have your suggestions concerning the fabric.

I don't think the chevron matches but I would like some validation.
