Bee in my Bonnet Row Along, quilted!!!

My beautiful "Bee in my Bonnet Row Along" quilt is finished!!!
I really love the way Cindy quilted it :)

I drove to a few parks looking for a place in the shade to photograph my quilt.
I found a golf course, but the quilt was too heavy to hang from a tree with clothes pins.
I found a pretty Elementary school but the iron fence was too thick for the clothes pins to hold onto.
I gave up and photographed the rest of the quilt in my house.
This photo was taken outdoors, mostly in the shade, partially in the sun :)

I love the pink scalloped border fabric, it's really bright and happy.
The binding is the same fabric as the little green border.

This is the best photo I could get of the entire quilt, not too good!

I hung the quilt over a chair, it just looks good wherever it hangs.
Lori has written a companion book to this quilt, it's called "Quilty Fun" and you can pre order it here.
It's full of adorable quilts and projects with the cute little designs from this quilt.
I'm really anxious to get my copy in September :)
It was so much fun seeing everyone's blocks and finished quilts, it felt like a virtual quilt guild.

Bee in my Bonnet Row Along, Outer Border

I have Lori's "row along" tutorial on my ipad.
I followed the instructions very closely and cut out all the pieces for  my outer border.
Isn't the pink fabric with yellow polka dots cute?
I think it adds a warmth to the quilt.

I sewed 46 little white squares onto 46 polka dot squares.

Then I sewed 46 more little white squares onto the other corner of
the same 46  polka dot squares.

There are 92 white squares sewn onto two corners of
46 polka dot squares.
Wow, that was a lot of chain sewing!

46 blocks, all trimmed and pressed.

Voila, my finished quilt top!
It was really difficult to capture it on film because it's so big!
I am so happy to have finally finished it :)
I have an appointment with my favorite long arm quilter in July.
My quilt will be even more beautiful then!

Bee in my Bonnet Row Along, Inner Border

I sewed all my rows together, yeah!!!
I have been contemplating the order I wanted to sew the rows together for months.  The rows were taped to my wall with painter's tape and I look at them all the time.
Now the quilt is too heavy to hang on the wall with tape.

I chose green for the inner border.
I really like the way it brings out all the greens in the quilt.
I am working on the outer border now.
I'm so excited to see the quilt near completion :)

Bee in my Bonnet Row Along, bee quilt label

I completely finished the bee label, embroidery and borders and all!
I decided to make my quilt into a bedspread for my 2 year old grand daughter, Neo.

I also got to skype with our youngest son and missionary, from Brazil!

It is so much better to skype and see and hear him, than just speak on the telephone.  I don't feel sad ending the conversation.
He is so happy!

Two of his sisters are having a turn talking to him, with some of their children.

Sean has only seen his 8 month old nephew Benjamin in photos :)

I hope you all had a fantastic Mother's Day!!!

Bee in my Bonnet Row Along : Quilt Label

This quilt label is so cute!!!  It fits the quilt perfectly :)
I sewed the bee block, but still need to embroider the antenae and the words.  I'll do that next week and show you when it's done.
I cut the sashing strips to border the label.
I really wanted to use a pink strip but didn't, because the red fabric will be the backing for the quilt.  I didn't think that pink would show up next to the red backing.  Doesn't the print look like little honeycombs for the
"Bee in my Bonnet Row Along"!
I have a lot of red on the front of the quilt, it is one of the seven colors I have in my quilt.
I still need to sew the rows of the quilt together and add the sashing and border.  I have everything picked out and of course I will show it all to you when I get it done :)
Have a great day

Tulips

I loved sewing this tulip row, but it took a long time to finish!
There were 14 pieces for each tulip, not to mention the sashing.

I took great care in choosing the colors.
There is only one gray tulip, so I put it in the middle.

The stems are all the same polka dot fabric.
I had great fun using all my greens for the leaves and matching them up with the tulips.

I chose little prints for the tulips because they give the overall look of a solid color, and look great against the white background.

Bee in My Bonnet Row Along - Baskets

I'm playing catch up......I completed my little row of baskets.
I tried to choose fabric that represented what a basket might hold.
This one might hold some strawberries.....

This basket could be used to pick flowers.

This basket is for picking cherries.

This basket just looks pretty :)

This basket is for apple picking.

Here's another basket to use for picking flowers.

Could this basket be used to hold cotton balls, or bubbles?  Lol!

Here are my seven little baskets all in a row.

I've chosen the fabric for the skinny border and the scalloped border......stay tuned!

Spools

This is Row 11 of Lori's Bee in my Bonnet Quilt Along.
Spools of thread, all in a row!
These are the fabrics I chose to create each little spool.

I really liked the gray Lori used for her spools, I was really tempted to do the same.
Instead, I thought I would stick with off white, simply because I used the same color for my apple cores which you can see here.

The fabric I used for the spools has text on it.

This was probably the fastest row to cut and sew so far :)
I had to show you this aqua spool close up.
Doesn't it look like thread wound around the spool?

Here are all 14 spools.

Here are all my rows on my "faux" design wall.
A fancy way to say they are all taped to the wall.

Won't You be My Neighbor?

I am all caught up until tomorrow when Lori will post a new row :)
I loved choosing the fabric for my little houses.
I used some of the colorful homes in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island for my inspiration.
I love the peekaboo prints!
The little girl in the doorway, the flowers in the windows, and the blue bird singing on the roof!

There's a teddy bear in this doorway, and flowers in the windows.
Polka dots are my favorite :)

I couldn't resist putting the Grenadier guards in this doorway.
My brother had that job one summer in Ottawa, the capital of Canada.  I made faces at him and jumped up and down and he never even blinked!

I put a cat in the doorway, I just hope he doesn't see the little blue bird who is singing his heart out ♥

I think this little boy is really cute and I like the shingles on the roof.

Here is my little row of houses, won't you be my neighbor?
