Woven Together block

I belong to the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild and their first meeting in January is always a lot of fun because they have so much information for the new year. I didn't join the block of the month last year in the guild because I wasn't crazy about the block.  When I saw everyone's cute quilts, I was really sorry that I hadn't joined. Part of the fun of being in a block of the month, is sharing your blocks and especially sharing your finished quilt in January!  It was so much fun seeing everyone's interpretation of the quilt and the colors and prints that they used.

This year's block of the month is titled "Choose Your Own Adventure". Elisabeth Hannafin, one of our guild members, is hosting the block of the month.  She gave such a wonderful presentation, and gave us ideas of three quilt layouts we can do, or make our own.

I chose a fat quarter bundle that I've been hoarding for the perfect project since 2011!!!  It's called Daisy Cottage, designed by Lori Holt. I think it's the second line she designed after Sew Cherry. Lots of pinks, yellows and grays.

I'm going to make two blocks each month, the same pattern but different fabric from the Daisy Cottage line.

This block is called "Woven Together" and it's designed by Sue Daley.

It will be fun to see everyone's progress throughout the year. Our big quilt reveal will be in January 2026!

Have a great week ❤️

lucky cuff quilt

I belong to the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild and every year they have a block of the month quilt.  I don't participate in all of them, but this one will be my third. "Lucky Cuff" was designed by Doris Blaisdell for the Modern Quilt Guild, January 2020.

We made Lucky Cuff in the year 2023, and each month we had a section to make.  It's always fun seeing everyone else's blocks, and the colors that they use.

Here is a link to some of our guild's quilts.

I wasn't that crazy about my quilt, but when my friend Pam at Sweet Pz Designs in Gilbert, Arizona quilted it, I fell in love with it! She used the "arches" pantograph.

With the help of my cute little grand daughter Sarina and her parents, we took some really fun photos!

This photo shows off the machine quilting.

I used my Lori Holt fabric, but had to buy fabric for the background.

I used half yard pieces of Lori Holt for the backing.  I think it gives a really pretty look :)

Thanks Sabrina, that's a wrap! See you next week :)

Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild

I have quite a few quilts in the works right now, but nothing to show you.  I'm also working on a secret project...and a commissioned quilt.

I belong to the Phoenix Modern Quilt guild and I'll show some of the quilts that my friend Nedra shared for Show and Tell.

This first quilt is called Silent Night by Pattern Basket.  One of our chickies showed her quilt after Christmas last year at our Farm Girl Chicks group and we just loved it!  About 6 or 7 of us rushed into the quilt shop and purchased the fabric :) It's so different, and it reminds me of the Christmas Eve during World War II that the Germans and the Americans stopped fighting and sang Christmas carols.  Soft and silent.  The fabric is called Christmas Morning by Lela Boutique.  I'm making this quilt also, but won't be able to finish it until May.

This quilt is on my list too. I didn't really know for certain that it was on my list until I saw Nedra's version.  The pattern is the picnic layout from Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt.  The blocks are Scrappy Leaves.  Nedra just pulled all of her fall colors and even used scrappy backgrounds. I think the color palette is gorgeous!
It's going to be my next project at Farm Girl Chicks, since we can only work on Lori Holt projects :)

I absolutely love this quilt also!!! The pattern is called Nova Star and the fat quarter bundle was curated by Meghan of Then Came June. The prints and the colors are very different.  I think the quilt is very eye catching.

I hope to have more to show you next week, thanks for following along!

Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild

I went to my guild meeting on Saturday,
the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild.
I wanted to show you some of the quilts that the ladies made :)

This is just plain cute and very appropriate for Arizona!

I love this 3D looking baby quilt :)

My friend Nedra made this cute Elizabeth Hartman penguin quilt.

This quilt is stunning!
Nedra said she made it as a leaders and enders quilt this past year.
It's 4 little 1 1/2" squares, sewn together!
It must have been so time consuming.

I'm going to have a difficult time showing you my quilting projects, because all of my tools are packed up.
We had to stage our house to sell.
We are building a new home a half mile down the street :)
