Sewing bags

Since I have all of my "grandchildren" quilts sewn....I've been wondering how to occupy all my newly acquired free time ❤️

I learned a long time ago that unless I have some ideas in my head and maybe even on paper, I can waste a lot. of time.  I've been decorating for Christmas and reading some books and preparing for our family reunion.  I've also been making some bags.  I've made about 8 Sew Together bags for gifts, but I've never made one for myself.  One of my favorite designers is Rifle Paper Co, so I used this fun "Alice in Wonderland" gold on black fabric along with some Rifle Paper flowers.

The side is pretty colorful!  Each zipper coordinates with the color of flower fabric that I used.  Of course, I'm only as good as my fabric and zipper stash.... I think you can see that the inner lining is a black fabric with gold stars.  Not quite as scrappy as other bags I've made :)

The first pocket is pink.

The second pocket is yellow.

The third pocket is green.

The bag is matchy matchy with a punchbag I made a few weeks ago.

I love this Sew Together bag, but I may just gift it to someone special instead of keeping it for myself :)

I also made three more lined drawstring bags.

Choosing fabric is the best!

Lunch Bag tutorial

I have made so many of these "lunch bags" which I use for scripture bags for my grand daughters when they turn 8 and are baptized, for gifts, embroidery projects and just to have fun! You can find Ayumi's tutorial from Pink Penguin here.

This one is for my grand daughter Lucy who was just baptized.  I know that she loves animals of all types but she especially loves bunnies.  I've been looking for cute bunny fabric for a couple of months but haven't found any.  I went to my stash and pulled all the animal fabric I could find, and a couple of bunny prints.

Lucy chose this cute mint green animal fabric which has some bunnies on it.  I then chose fabric to coordinate, and red is Lucy's favorite color.

One of the 8 yer old little girls in my Primary class at church happened to mention that she doesn't have a scripture bag.  I was so excited to make one for her :) I know that her favorite color is yellow.

I made one for my 14 year old grand daughter too, because after taking her scriptures to church every Sunday for 6 years, her bag is looking a little shabby.  Yes, I 'll make each of the girls a new one when they turn 14 if they want one.
This bag is a fashion designer's bag.  I love the cute Japanese fabric with broken grammar and the top part of the bag has scissors all over it. I found a tape measure twill and used it for the ties.

The lining inside the bag has pattern pieces on it!

I would love to keep this bag for myself!

Here's the little girl I made the bag for.  I think she likes it!

You can see some of the bags I've made here, here and here.

We even had a girls night one year with two of my daughters and one daughter in law.  We had a lot of fun, you can see it here.

Ayumi's Lunch Bag, a new use!

I made a tutorial in photos for this lunch bag here.
We also sewed this bag at a Girl's Night Out, here.
This bag was designed by Ayumi from Pink Penguin, and her tutorial can be found here.
I made this bag for my granddaughter Kennedy, who will be turning 8 years old on July 19.
The bag is intended to hold her new scriptures :)
Kennedy's favorite colors are green and blue, and she loves anything fancy!

I love this bag so much, I want to keep it!
I know Kennedy will take really good care of it and she'll also treasure it.
There are a lot of cute scripture totes available, but she asked me if I would make one for her myself :)
Precious!!!

I chose the lining to match the outside, it's Amy Butler fabric, as well as the upper part of the bag.

The horse and lightning bug fabric are by Sarah Jane, her "Wee Wander" line.

I'm quite confident that Kennedy will like it, it's fancy!

Sometimes Kennedy may not want to use the upper drawstring part of the bag, and that would be perfectly fine....

How sweet is this little girl on her horse?
She reminds me of Kennedy and will remind her that she is capable of anything if she puts her mind to it.

I also made Kennedy a little folder to put some of her important church books in, a photo of the temple, some scripture highlighters,  a pad of paper and some gel pens.

I know that Kennedy can't join the Young Women organization until she turns 12.
The envelope fabric has the young women values which are, Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity and Virtue.
You're never too young to learn uplifting values :)

Kennedy was baptized last Saturday and looked like a princess.

I will show you photos next Saturday :)
