Snapshots QAL finish!

post signature
I finished my Snapshots quilt, yay!
It all began with choosing my fabric for each block.
I used all of Bonnie and Camille's fabric, but they were from lots of different lines.
They all go together so well!

I love this little "bug"!
I decided to make this quilt for my new daughter in law, Kari.
I knew that heart had to have some embroidery, and so I did :)

I really love all the colors in this quilt, red and aqua, with touches of green and orange.
Don't you love the bicycle?
I fashioned it after my own...
The bicycle block is to remind Kari that she still needs to learn how to ride one, lol.

I know that Kari loves soft!
I put a beautiful soft aqua minky on the back.
My friend Cindy, did an outstanding machine quilting job!
She is very talented.

You can see the machine quilting a little better in this photo.
The hot air balloon represents travelling home to Costa Rica, to visit.
That's where Kari's from, only a year ago!

I sewed the camera label on the back.

Here's the closeup :)

This quilt took me a year and a half to make!
It was hard to give away...because I love it so much.
I embroidered Kari and Sean's wedding date under the cake.

I had the best surprise on Christmas eve!
I was expecting a friend to come over any minute, to borrow some tape.
I was walking toward the front door when it opened.
I thought it was strange that my friend would walk in...
I said come in, and then realized it wasn't my friend's husband, it was my son Sean!!!!  and Kari!!!!
What an incredible surprise!
I was the only one who didn't know, lol!
It was the best gift ever!!!
We were also blessed with a visit from our daughter Lindsay and our son in law Jeremy and their 4 perfect kids!
My father in law spent Christmas with us too, and that was wonderful.
Here is Kari with her quilt, she loves it too!

Snapshots Quilt

post signature
I finally finished my Snapshots quilt from Fat Quarter Shop's quilt along!
I just needed to finish the bottom three blocks, frame them all in red, and add the sashing.
I've really enjoyed making this quilt.
All of the fabric is Bonnie and Camille, by Moda fabric.
I used many different lines and loved matching up the colors and prints.
I'll show you another photo when the quilt is machine quilted and bound.
It's always so great to finish a WIP!

Snapshots QAL

I love the Snapshots Quilt Along, designed by Bonnie and Camille, and sponsored by the Fat Quarter Shop!
They suggest you make a donation to the St. Jude foundation.
This is Block #7, Up Up and Away!
This is definitely NOT a snapshot of my life, as I will not be caught dead in a hot air balloon!!!
I sure enjoy watching them in the sky though, some are really colorful :)

On the other hand, I really love my bicycle :)
I patterned this one after my beach cruiser, which is green with orange rims, and a cute wicker basket in the front.
I went on a trail with my son a few years ago when we lived in Florida.
It was a mountain bike trail and it was so bumpy, that the screws that held the basket to my handlebars completely rattled off!
That was a memorable ride as a huge storm rolled in and we were soaked to the skin in seconds.  LOL
Aren't the pinwheel flowers happy, coming out of the basket?

I've been using all of Bonnie and Camille's fabrics for these blocks, instead of Daysail which the pattern suggests.
It's really fun choosing colors and prints.
In the middle of the camera, is a print from Lori Holt's "Modern Mini" collection.
It's perfect, isn't it?
This camera is huge and will go on the back of the quilt.

I have a Pinterest board where you can find all the blocks.
Sondra Davison from "Out of the Blue Quilts" has designed each block in a mini and they are all on my Pinterest board too.
See you next week :)

Snapshots QAL - Triple Scoop Sundae

I finished Block 6, the Triple Scoop Sundae.
I like it, I really, really do!
I'm going to be honest and tell you that this is my second try at the block.

I originally made the block in different prints.
The ice cream drowned in the toppings, and the pistachio ice cream piece was too big (I guess) and it puckered.
Here it is....
Oh boy, I thought it would be pretty, but...it's going to my orphan block box :)
I like the cherry on top though!

The Snapshots QAL is sponsored by The Fat Quarter shop.
They suggest making a donation to St. Jude's Hospital.
I've pinned all the blocks on my Pinterest board here.
Here are the previous 5 blocks that I've made.

Next week, I hope to sew the camera block and add the trim and sashing.
Are any of you working on this quilt?
Leave me a comment and tell me where I can see your photos :)

Snapshots QAL - Puppy Love and Kindred Kitchen

I love this Quilt Along!
I don't have any cute little dogs, so I guess this "Puppy Love" block will have to do for now.
I think he's a really sweet little pup :)
I am using Bonnie and Camille fabrics for 98% of my quilt.
I have a small collection of their previous lines and have really enjoyed pulling from my stash to make the blocks.

This block is called Kindred Kitchen, I should really make a life-size apron for myself in these fabrics :)

These are the other blocks I've posted about.
Block #1 is "Let them eat cake", block #2 is "Sew on & Sew on", and block #3 is "Put the kettle on".
I ordered the sashing fabric yesterday, and I might piece the back from leftover fat quarters or yardage :)
You can read more about the Snapshots QAL here, at the Fat Quarter Shop.
They ask for a small donation to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital.
It's a win/win situation :)

Snapshots QAL - kettle

This is block #3, Put the kettle on!
Bonnie from Cotton Way, chose this block to represent your favorite drink.
One of my favorites is Kombucha, have you ever tried it?
The Synergy brand in Gingerade and Gingerberry are my favorite flavors :)
Here's my kettle!
I am using all of Bonnie and Camille's fabrics for this quilt, but not much Daysail.
I had such a large collection of their fabric that I decided to use it instead of buying more :)
I'll just buy more of other lines, Ha ha!!!

These are the 3 blocks I've made so far...
Yes, I'm sticking to the red and aqua theme, one of my many favorite color combos!

The Snapshots QAL is a fundraiser to raise money for St. Jude's hospital.
A $5 donation is suggested, and the money goes to an incredible cause, helping sick children!
All of the information is on my Snapshots QAL board on Pinterest.

Snapshots QAL, sewing machine

I'm sewing the Snapshots Quilt Along, it's sponsored by the Fat Quarter Shop.

The pattern for the sewing machine was available on February 15.
I used my Alpha Bitties to sort out all the little pieces.
If you are interested in getting some for yourself, you can find them here.

Here's my sewing machine.  I'm using mostly Bonnie and Camille fabric for this quilt, from various lines.
The red fabric in the sewing machine isn't Bonnie and Camille, but the rest is.

Here's my cake block from last month.
I think they look pretty good together :)

I pinned all of the Snapshot QAL information on Pinterest.
There is also a Facebook page devoted to the Snapshots QAL.
It almost feels like a virtual quilting bee, there is lots of excitement about this quilt :)

post signatureI'm looking forward to March 15 when the "kettle" block is available!

Snapshots QAL, cake

I'm making Fat Quarter Shop's Snapshots quilt.
When I saw this, I fell in love with it...and I have a difficult time resisting a quilt along, especially when other designers are involved.
I love seeing everyone's version of the same pattern.
The Fat Quarter Shop has requested that you give a $5 donation to St. Jude's hospital for each pattern that you download.
You can get more information here.
This quilt was made from "Day Sail", Bonnie and Camille's latest fabric line from Moda.
I have a good collection of Bonnie and Camille's fabrics already, so I decided to use their fabrics from other lines.

I divided my fabric into blocks, and labeled all 12 of them.
Then I put the piles into a basket and will take out one block at a time, each month.

January's block is a four layer cake, yum!
I cut out all the pieces and marked them with Alphebities.

These are the fabrics I'm using for the cake block.

Voila, here's my tasty cake!
I'm pinning all the designer's blocks on my Snapshots QAL board if  you want to follow it on Pinterest.
