Quilty Fun Sew Along, Week 10

Lori has the coolest method of making 4 patches!
I never could have figured it out, but her book is so clear and easy to understand.
Here are my fabric choices for this block.

It didn't take me long, and here are my 16 four patches all sewn together :)
Have you joined the Quilty Fun Sew Along yet?
It's not too late!

Quilty Fun Sew Along, Week Nine

I have two things that I really look forward to on Monday morning.
First, is the email from my son in Brazil, and second is Lori's "Quilty Fun Sew Along".
This week, the block is quarter square triangles.
I chose my fabrics carefully, making sure I have some of every color with the same values.

I'm now the proud owner of this 6" X l/2" ruler.
It's so much more efficient to use this 6" ruler, just place it on the center of the square diagonally and draw a line on both sides.

I love my new sewing machine, it sews like a dream!
I never have to touch the presser foot, and the thread cuts itself automatically.

I lay all my quarter square triangles next to each other, making sure that the same prints aren't next to each other.

There are four separate sections on the quilt where these blocks will be sewn.

My blocks are all complete!
Stay tuned for more of my quilty fun sampler next week :)

Quilty Fun Sew Along, Week Eight

I have been trying to wait patiently for 3 weeks for this new tutorial, the tree block.
It's so much fun to see what fabrics everyone uses.
I love the green fabric with the apples, because an apple tree makes sense!
I love the dotted Pam Kitty Morning fabric and Heather Bailey's green.

Here are all of my white squares sewn onto the trees.

I chose the brown for the trunks because I thought it was interesting with the swirls.

 Ta da!  My finished trees!
Only three of them, they sewed up really quick!
I think the tree in the middle could be a magnolia tree and the tree on the left could be a pear tree :)

If you would like to see the tutorial, go to Messy Jesse's blog, here.
Lori always posts about her weekly block for the Quilty Fun Sew Along on her blog too, and so does the Fat Quarter Shop.
I have a Pinterest Board on Pinterest where I have pinned all the tutorials for the Quilty Fun Sew Along.

Quilty Fun Sew Along, Week Seven

I really love these cocoa cups, they're perfect for the Christmas season!
I chose red and aqua for me because it matches my kitchen, and a soft yellow with a bunny, strawberries, cherries and polka dots, that one of my little grand daughters might like.

These cocoa cups were really fast and easy to sew :)
Can't you see whipped cream flowing over the top, with some salted caramel sauce?
Yum!!!

Quilty Fun Sew Along, Week Five

I'm playing catch up today, but better late than never!
Week Five is flying geese, which is one of my favorite blocks.
You can follow my "Quilty Fun Sew Along" board on Pinterest, it's always up to date.
Here are my little geese coming into formation, using Lori's method of sewing flying geese.
There is a tutorial on my "Quilty Fun Sew Along" board.

My little hearts turned into flying geese.

I trimmed them all up, and they are ready to sew together.

I had some geese left over from another project so I didn't have to cut out as many, bonus!!!

Here they are, all joined and pressed!
Now I can get to work on my little cocoa cups :)

Quilty Fun Sew Along, Week Six

Week Six is the Chubby Chevrons.
They were really quick to sew, especially since I have organized my scrap basket!
You can read about my new little baskets here.
I chose my colors very carefully....

.....and while talking to my mother on the phone, I sewed them into cute little Chubby Chevrons!
Have you joined the Quilty Fun Sew Along yet?
There's still plenty of time.
I sure look forward to Mondays when I can see a new tutorial.
Monday is Pam Kitty Morning, she will be having a tutorial on the Cocoa Cups :)

Quilty Fun Sew Along, Week Four

This block was perfect for Nanette at Freda's Hive to host.
Vintage baskets remind me of her :)
Here are the fabrics that I chose.

I'm really excited about adding navy blue to my sampler quilt.

Three little baskets all in a row :)

Quilty Fun Sew Along, Week Three

These were my first Courthouse Steps, and they won't be my last!
Just like Lori and everyone says, they are so easy and fun to make.
I reached into my 2 l/2" inch square pile and chose two centers.
I reached into my l l/2" strips container and chose some red, pink, orange, green, yellow, navy, aqua and gray strips, so easy!!!
I'm so glad I reorganized my scraps, you can see the story here.
I love this Quilty Fun Sew Along, have you joined the band wagon yet?

Quilty Fun Sew Along, Week Two

When I made the Bee in my Bonnet Row Along quilt, I chose my fabrics before I began the quilt.
You can see my selection here.
Now that I'm making the Quilty Fun Sew Along, I haven't chosen my fabric ahead of time.
Is that bad?
My thinking is that since it's a sampler, there are so many prints that I can just choose them as the need arises.

I didn't have any navy in my other quilt, I think it will be a nice addition.
I love these little twinkly stars!

Happy Quilting :)

Quilty Fun Sew Along, Week One

I bought Lori Holt's book and just love it!
The diagrams are colorful and the instructions are easy to understand.
There is all kinds of yummy eye candy, of all of her quilts that she made with her "Bee in my Bonnet Row Along" blocks.
I made that quilt and gave it to my grand daughter, you can see it here.

I've joined the "Quilty Fun Sew Along", there is a button at the side of my blog if you want to go and look.
Week one is "apples".
I love apples, especially in the fall.
I love golden delicious, gala, princess and a really good kind from British Columbia, just don't remember what they're called.
I also like Granny Smith, but only in salads :)
I'm going to keep this "Quilty Fun" sampler for myself and hang it on the wall.
Leave me a comment and tell me if you've joined this sew along.
I will take a look at your blog or flickr page :)
