Mini Medallion - finished!

I found this beautiful mini medallion QAL series at
The mini medallion was designed by Chrissie at Sew Lux.
The QAL was six months, which included a border every month.
I chose a selection of oranges, aquas and greys, and I used a cursive text print, the same one throughout the quilt.

All of the tutorials can be found on my Pinterest board here.

I highly recommend to everyone, to make this mini.
The directions are really easy to follow with photographs for all the steps.
I backed the quilt with an orange Lila Tueller print I had in my stash.
I like it a lot!!!
I machine quilted the mini with a straight stitch.
I've tried that before and really enjoyed the process.
I even used this mini as a table topper when I taught the Young Women today :)

For those of you who follow my blog regularly, I've made a decision to post twice a week instead of three times.
It's just too difficult trying to make projects to blog about so often!
In January, I will only blog once a week.
This way, I will be able to show you tutorials and things I can teach you about.
I hope I won't let any of my regular blog readers down by doing this.

Mini Medallion - October

This is the 5th month for the Mini Medallion Series designed by Chrissy Lux.
You can get this month's free pattern at Clover and Violet.
I sewed the grey border around the orange snowballs.
I can hardly wait for next month's final border, then I can quilt this mini.

This is a close up of the fabrics I've used.
I love playing with text prints, I think they add a lot of interest.
If you want to get the other free patterns to make this mini medallion yourself, you can go to the search box to the right of my blog and type in "mini medallion".

Mini Medallion - August

This is the third section of the border in the mini medallion series, for the month of August.
There will be 3 more additions given once a month, through the month of November.
These are my fabric selections for the border.

The first border is in gray, I think it goes really well with the text print and offsets the brightness of the orange.

I made 16 flying geese blocks and layed them out, altering the blue prints.

All finished, I really love this medallion.
You can find all 3 month's instructions on my Pinterest board, here.

Mini Medallion, Finished!

I finished my Mini Medallion, yay!
I think the colors are happy and I love the Aunt Gracie prints.

I am also in love the fabric on the back :)
Little vintage girls from the 1950's.
I grew up in the day when you could only wear dresses to school.
Thankfully, by the time I reached high school, the rules had changed and you could wear pants and even jeans (gasp!) to school.

If you are interested in making a Mini Medallion designed by Corey Yoder, all the information is on my Pinterest board here.
The mini measures 24" square.

Mini Medallion, almost finished!

Please excuse the yellowish tinge to this photo, I took it at night and the light isn't very good in my sewing room.
The last time I showed you the progress of this Mini Medallion, was here.
I was so excited about finishing this mini quilt, that I forgot a step...

I forgot to sew the border before I attached the squares.
The hand picking wasn't too bad, only four short borders.
Here is the green border that I forgot to sew on.... Lol!

Now it's in the right order!
I finished machine quilting it too, bonus!!!

A close up...
Try not to notice my chopped off friendship star points.
I'll be keeping this quilt for myself.

I really love the vintage sewing pattern fabric on the back.
I can display this side, also.

I attached the binding and will be hand sewing it tomorrow.
This Mini Medallion quilt measures 26" square.
If you want to make one, you can find it on my Pinterest board, here.

Mini Medallion, part 2

I am working hard to finish this little mini medallion quilt.
It will measure 24" square.
You can find my "mini medallion" board on Pinterest here.
There are two parts to the tutorial, and this is the mini medallion that Corey Yoder designed.

I've sewn the pinwheels around the center medallion.
It was fun choosing all the 30's prints.
It was a lot of cutting and sewing!
I didn't square the half square triangles, and am really sorry that I didn't.
A lot of my points were cut off...
Luckily I'm not giving it as a gift.
It's a fun project and I will be in a drawing to win some Aurifil thread.

Next, I will be sewing all these little squares together and onto the quilt.
This little mini quilt is so scrappy that I don't think anyone will notice my sloppy points, lol!

Mini Medallion

I love this quilt, it's a mini medallion.
Little Miss Shabby is doing a quilt along at Sew Mama Sew.
She designed the quilt herself :)
I have a board on Pinterest that you can find here.
It is only made in two segments, and measures 25" square.

I cut out my fabric for part 1 of the sew along, including all of the background pieces.

Here's the center section of the medallion.

I decided to use 30's prints.
I love them and they are small scale.
I'm not sure what other colors I'm going to use yet for the borders, but I have my 20 prints selected for part 2.
I have until May 31 to be eligible for some prizes.
I'm still traveling, but still hope to get this finished by the deadline.
