Little Red Riding Hood

I love these little panels that Stacy Iest Hsu designs! I have made so many of them for my grand daughters and they're always a big hit!

This is Little Red Riding Hood, one of my favorite fairy tales :)

You stitch the doll, she has a skirt with a belt, a cape, a pillow and a quilt.  Let's not forget Mr. Big, otherwise known as the big bad wolf!

I make a Lined Drawstring Bag by Jeni Baker, the artist size. I absolutely love this bag, I've made so many of them :)

I also buy a Little Red Riding Hood book by James Marshall.  I love his sense of humor and illustrations.  The wolf is a little scary in the drawings, but not too scary!

I think "Red" is adorable with her rosy cheeks and bright red cape.  Anyone who wears red shoes is a kindred spirit to me ;)

I made the doll for my grand daughter Sabrina who just turned 2 years old.  Little children are so much fun!!!

Here's another post about a Red Riding doll I made.

And another :)

Have a great week and thanks for following along :)

Half Yard Jam

Have you heard of the Fat Quarter Shop?  It's an online quilt shop.

Kimberly and Kevin Jolly are the owners, and Kimberly has a YouTube video every Friday morning.  It's full of new pattern releases, sew alongs, new fabric lines and so much more!  I love watching it.

They contacted me and asked if I would like to make a quilt for their release of "Half Yard Jam" pattern in the Short Cut quilt series.  I said of course! and was able to choose any half yard bundle they had in stock.  Boy, was that fun!!!  I love anything to do with Little Red Riding Hood, so I chose "Little Red in the Woods" by Jill Howarth for Riley Blake.  I'm going to add this quilt to my "grandchildren pile".

It's really big, 90" square.  Did I mention that this quilt pattern is free on their blog, Jolly Jabber?

First, I cut all the strips.

There were two red pieces, but I decided to leave them out and just have these three main colors in the quilt.

Something else I did that was a little different, was that I kept each category in their color family instead of making the quilt totally scrappy.

Here's a look at the finished top, with three different color sections.
I think it still looks scrappy, but in a nonconventional way.

Here's a shot of my son Addison helping me out.
He's a police officer for the city of Phoenix, scary I know!!!
He only lives 5 minutes away, and I knew it was his day off, so I asked him to come over and help me pin my quilt to the batting and the back.
I was huffing and puffing and sweating bullets, so it was a huge relief to have him take over.
It was even a little difficult for him, lol!

Here's the finished quilt on our fake grass in the backyard.
That's what we do in Arizona,
but it's still pretty and soft and very green!
Just don't walk on it in the heat of the summer
or you'll burn your feet off!!!

Here's the back of the quilt,
which is pieced with mostly Lori Holt fabric.

I forgot to mention that I bound the quilt with red.

I know that one of my grand daughters will love this quilt :)

Here is where you can find the free pattern.

This is where you can find the quilt kit.

Thank you Fat Quarter Shop! ❤️

Little Red

Have you heard of the fabric line "Little Red" by Moda?
I have a "thing" for Little Red Riding Hood, so I think it's fabulous!
The fabric line comes with a panel, and you can find it at one of my favorite etsy shops, stitchesngiggles4u.
I just cut along the dotted lines and made this adorable little doll, her skirt and cape.
The little quilt is two sided, and so is the pillow.
Isn't the big bad wolf a scream?
I made this little set for my darling little grand daughter who is turning 3 years old.

I also made Lucy Jane this cute little quilt as you go tote bag.

I used all sorts of cute little pieces of fabric from my scrappy stash.

I bought the pattern from my favorite quilt shop, Pine Needles.
Sandra Workman, the designer, is the owner of Pine Needles, and
she designs a lot of cute patterns and fabric :)

Lucy Jane really liked her doll and bag, she's a pretty fancy little girl!

We were on our way to get her ears pierced for her birthday, so she was a little too preoccupied to smile....ha ha!!!

Fabric Happiness

I love fabric, I always have, even as a little girl :)
I love the color, the patterns and the feel of it.
I even have a board on Pinterest called Fabric Happiness!
Recently, I bought these little fat quarters at Westwood Acres.

I have a thing for text prints, and these are fabulous!
Only one of them has a selvage, it's the second one from the top.
It's "Architecture" by Carolyn Friedlander for Robert Kaufman.

Look at these little lovelies, they remind me of little girl things from the 1950's.

The pinks remind me of cotton candy!

I have four pinks, but they look a little peachy in this photo.
The fabrics are by Lecien and are called Honey Baby.

Little Red Riding Hood is dear to my heart and one of my favorite color combos is red and aqua!!!

I've learned to buy black....even though it's not always my favorite color, it does look great in a quilt for contrast.

Last but not least, an adorable mint green and sweet peach :)
