The Quilty Barn Along, Silo Barn

Here's my 6" block, I wanted to keep it plain and simple :)

This is my new barn!  I love it!!!!
I really like the contrast of polka dots and gingham, and the window full of flowers :)

The tutorial for Lori's new barn with the silo can be found here at Bee in my Bonnet.

The Quilty Barn Along #8

I got inspiration for my barn from this one in Quebec.
I love the frosty trees, they bring back memories of freezing winters.
I love the orange doors and trim too!

I thought that the soft pastel block would be a pretty contrast against the teal and orange barn.

Here's my barn!  I really love it :)
I like the Denyse Schmidt leaf fabric I used for the roof.

You can find Lori's tutorial for this barn and a great story here.

The Quilty Barn Along #7

I'm really loving these barns!!!
Lori at Bee in my Bonnet sure knows how to inspire me :)
My inspiration for this barn is an incredibly happy orange barn from Quebec, my native home and land :)

The quilt block is an easy pinwheel.
Pinwheels are one of my favorite blocks!

I love this block, It is colorful like the French Canadians!
Whoops!!! I did it again.......notice anything wrong with this block?

There we go, I fixed it!  That wasn't painful at all :)

You can find Lori's tutorial here.

The Quilty Barn Along #6

I'm getting the hang of making Lori's barns :)
I really like the bright colors in this block.
It's really called "sunny sunflower", but I think I'll call mine "starburst".

Both of my parents are from Prince Edward Island.
Some of my great uncles were dairy farmers and I remember how beautiful their barns were....bright red with white trim and round pole picket fences painted white with a red ring around the top.
I googled barns in Prince Edward Island and found this one.
It is located in Kings County, where a lot of my relatives are from.

I think mine is pretty close in color.
Do you notice anything wrong with this block?
I didn't at first because I was talking on the phone while I was sewing it!!!
I hung it up on the wall, sat down and then saw my mistake.....Lol

Voila, thank goodness for seam rippers :)

The Quilty Barn Along #5

This Maple Leaf block was one of my favorites from "The Farmer's Wife" quilt that I made.  Maybe because I'm Canadian and the maple leaf is Canada's national emblem :)  My favorite season was the fall, when all the maple leaves would turn red and orange.
I'm also a huge fan of maple syrup :)

I used a light blue for the background because it looks like the sky.

I looked online for some barn photos, and found these beautiful aqua ones.  I had no ideas that there were any aqua barns out there...

Here's another aqua barn.
With all the snow, I wonder if this barn might be in Quebec.

I wanted to make my own aqua barn.
I used Lori's "Polka Dot Stitches" and stitched one up.
I'm going to look for some other colors to create my barns.
Any suggestions?

The Quilty Barn Along #4

I really enjoy making these barns, they come together quickly.
The red is Tasha Noel's "Little Red Riding Hood", and the little girl print I used for the door and the window is by the same designer.
I used some of my cherished"Sew Cherry" for the churn dash block.
The background fabric is linen.
I have the quilty barns hanging on my design wall for inspiration.

The Quilty Barn Along #3

I used fabric from my scrap box, the squares are only l l/2".
It's funny when you use fabric scraps, the pile never diminishes....

I've never made a postage stamp block before.

I was really excited to make this block, I've always admired it.
It has a lot of potential for color variety.
I love Tasha Noel's fabrics and was able to use some of it in the barn doorway, window and roof.  They add the perfect touch!

The Quilty Barn Along #2

I made the quilt block with some more of my Sew Cherry fabric.

I finished my second barn, yeah!!!
The barns sew up really quickly, the pieces are large.
It would be a good starter project.

There are so many different shades of red!
I think the barns look great together.
Thanks for following my blog :)

I have been itching to begin this quilt!
This is the first time I've used my Sew Cherry by Lori Holt.
I love it so much, that I'm afraid or worried to use it :)
Anyone else have that problem with fabric they are in love with?
I finished the quilt block.
Notice anything a little off?
Look closely.....

I don't often do this, but I unpicked the stitches and resewed.
It looks so much prettier!!!

My first barn, yeah!!!
I love it!!!
