Riley Blake Design Mystery Block of the Month - June

Riley Blake Design's block of the month for June is their signature bird, and it's called "Birds of a Feather".

Riley Blake Designs

The link for the "how to" video is here.
I wanted to make the "needle turn" applique bird, there were eleven  pieces.
I didn't have a template for the bird, so I eyeballed where to applique the pieces on the bird.
I love my little Riley Blake bird :)

These are my other blocks, they're pretty pink, aren't they?
I'm going to sash them in a totally different color and I'm really looking forward to putting it all together, I love choosing fabrics.

The Quilty Barn Along #8

I got inspiration for my barn from this one in Quebec.
I love the frosty trees, they bring back memories of freezing winters.
I love the orange doors and trim too!

I thought that the soft pastel block would be a pretty contrast against the teal and orange barn.

Here's my barn!  I really love it :)
I like the Denyse Schmidt leaf fabric I used for the roof.

You can find Lori's tutorial for this barn and a great story here.

The Quilty Barn Along #7

I'm really loving these barns!!!
Lori at Bee in my Bonnet sure knows how to inspire me :)
My inspiration for this barn is an incredibly happy orange barn from Quebec, my native home and land :)

The quilt block is an easy pinwheel.
Pinwheels are one of my favorite blocks!

I love this block, It is colorful like the French Canadians!
Whoops!!! I did it again.......notice anything wrong with this block?

There we go, I fixed it!  That wasn't painful at all :)

You can find Lori's tutorial here.

Riley Blake Mystery Block of the Month - May

I have a box full of selvages, I love them!

This is the first time I have sewn with them.

It was so much fun choosing which ones to use :)

Making a selvage quilt is on my to do list.

I made this block 3 times!
The first time, my block wasn't big enough.
I didn't print the pattern (actual size), and that ruined the dimensions.
The third time was a charm!

Here are the rest of my blocks, there will be 9 in all.
