The Quilty Barn Along #4

I really enjoy making these barns, they come together quickly.
The red is Tasha Noel's "Little Red Riding Hood", and the little girl print I used for the door and the window is by the same designer.
I used some of my cherished"Sew Cherry" for the churn dash block.
The background fabric is linen.
I have the quilty barns hanging on my design wall for inspiration.

"Buttons & Bows"

My grand daughter's name is Kennedy, and she is almost 6 years old.

I made a slip for her to wear with one of her dresses.
The side seams and shoulder seams are all sewn with french seams.

I sewed five pin tucks on the yoke with a double needle, and embellished it with three little buttons.
The cotton eyelet lace is embroidered with hearts.

There is a placket on the back, and I sewed two button at the closure.

The name of the pattern is called "Buttons & Bows", and the company's name is Golden Needle.
I have made so many of these little slips/nightgowns over the years, and you can be made as plain or as fancy as your heart desires!

Bee in my Bonnet Row Along, Outer Border

I have Lori's "row along" tutorial on my ipad.
I followed the instructions very closely and cut out all the pieces for  my outer border.
Isn't the pink fabric with yellow polka dots cute?
I think it adds a warmth to the quilt.

I sewed 46 little white squares onto 46 polka dot squares.

Then I sewed 46 more little white squares onto the other corner of
the same 46  polka dot squares.

There are 92 white squares sewn onto two corners of
46 polka dot squares.
Wow, that was a lot of chain sewing!

46 blocks, all trimmed and pressed.

Voila, my finished quilt top!
It was really difficult to capture it on film because it's so big!
I am so happy to have finally finished it :)
I have an appointment with my favorite long arm quilter in July.
My quilt will be even more beautiful then!

Bee in my Bonnet Row Along, Inner Border

I sewed all my rows together, yeah!!!
I have been contemplating the order I wanted to sew the rows together for months.  The rows were taped to my wall with painter's tape and I look at them all the time.
Now the quilt is too heavy to hang on the wall with tape.

I chose green for the inner border.
I really like the way it brings out all the greens in the quilt.
I am working on the outer border now.
I'm so excited to see the quilt near completion :)

The Quilty Barn Along #3

I used fabric from my scrap box, the squares are only l l/2".
It's funny when you use fabric scraps, the pile never diminishes....

I've never made a postage stamp block before.

I was really excited to make this block, I've always admired it.
It has a lot of potential for color variety.
I love Tasha Noel's fabrics and was able to use some of it in the barn doorway, window and roof.  They add the perfect touch!

Bee in my Bonnet Row Along, bee quilt label

I completely finished the bee label, embroidery and borders and all!
I decided to make my quilt into a bedspread for my 2 year old grand daughter, Neo.

I also got to skype with our youngest son and missionary, from Brazil!

It is so much better to skype and see and hear him, than just speak on the telephone.  I don't feel sad ending the conversation.
He is so happy!

Two of his sisters are having a turn talking to him, with some of their children.

Sean has only seen his 8 month old nephew Benjamin in photos :)

I hope you all had a fantastic Mother's Day!!!

Travel Pillow

I've posted about the "travel pillows" I've made quite a couple of times which you can see here and here.
I even have a tutorial which you can see here.
My son Sean said that he needs a new pillowcase.
I looked at my black prints but settled on this cute retro print of a little boy.  This will be a pillowcase for a 20 year old man!!!  Ha ha!
Sorry for the sideways photos.

This is what the back looks like, very vintage looking.
I love making these pillows, I have made so many of them!
Do you think he'll like it?
