Twinkly Winter Stars!

For those of you who are following along, or sewing your own 

Bee in my Bonnet Row Along, you know that this is row 9.

The fun part for me is choosing the fabric!

Look at all of these little lovelies :)

My design board really helped me when I was sewing the twinkly winter stars together.  If they weren't laid out on the board, I know I would have sewn the pieces together in the wrong order.

I didn't have to use my seam ripper once!  Phew!!!

I love these little stars, they were fun and easy to sew together.

Here they are, all joined together.

The stars were little, so I chose little prints out of my stash.

I love my rows!!!

Mittens

I'm almost caught up.....just finished Row 8, Mittens!

I think that I used to have a pair of mittens just like these...

I tried to choose fabrics that looked like real mittens.

It was fun choosing the mitten cuffs to coordinate with the mitten.

None of my mittens have different fabric for the thumbs, mainly because I couldn't find any that matched very well.

Row 8 complete!  It is such a good feeling to be almost caught up!

Leaves!

These are the fabrics I chose for my 16 leaves, in the Bee in my Bonnet Row Along, row 7.

Don't the squares looks so pretty all laid out on my design board?

There are 11 pieces for each leaf and sashing in between each leaf block.  There is a lot of pressing, measuring and cutting to make 16 leaves!

Originally, each leaf had two prints of the same color.  Since my rows have such bright colors, I thought I would shake it up a bit by pairing up different colors on each leaf half.  I thought it might be too normal with two leaves with the same color and print on each row. 

Do you see what I mean?

I have a yellow leaf and then a pink/red one, a red leaf and an orange/yellow one, etc.

Nine Cups of Cocoa

Well, I'm on the fast track to catching up to the Bee in my Bonnet Row Along.

My favorite part about making this quilt is choosing the fabrics.

I think the green cup in the middle looks like it is from Anthropologie, my favorite store :)

It just needs a "c" stamped on it in blue ink.

The best way to take a photo of this 50 l/2" row is to lay it on my two largest design boards like so.....

Nine cups of Cocoa is Row #6.

I have 4 more rows to measure, cut and sew before I am caught up.

Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day

I supported my local quilt shop yesterday.  It was raining.

I chose a few fabrics from the Vintage Modern line.

The quilt shop even had reserved parking just for me!

My favorite quilt shop is in Utah, Nadine's "Material Girls".

Flying Geese

I have been away from home for a few weeks, helping out with the birth of a new grandchild.  I have been itching to sew.  There are a couple of blessing outfits that I need to smock and sew, but first I had to get some quilting out of my system :)

I am really behind on "The Bee in my Bonnet Row Along". 

I have seen everyone's cute rows online and have been dying to catch up.

Today the "geese flew the coup", and I worked on row 5.

I love choosing and pairing fabrics.

I think these prints are really "happy".

Today I ran errands, made and received phone calls, set up appointments, prepared dinner and was able to finish my flying geese.

American Girl Birthday Party

Kelsey is my grand daughter Kennedy's doll, and she is having a birthday party!

Kennedy invited five of her friends and their dolls.

What a delicious looking table!  Kelsey's donut is the one with the two candles, because that's how old she is ;)

The girls dressed their dolls in clothes from Kelsey's wardrobe.

Kelsey has a fashion show with all the clothes I made for her in a previous post, you can see it here.

Some of the girls gave their dolls check ups while others put pretend make up on their dolls.

When the girls were through primping their dolls, it was time for the fashion show.  Kennedy was the announcer.

Kelsey's yoga mat was the red carpet.

One of the dolls had a skiing accident but she was still able to go down the runway.

Everyone is so excited!  Kennedy's two year old sister Charlotte and her two year old cousin Neo were invited as well.

My son Addison (Neo's dad) loves to be in all the photos!!!

The party invitations that Kennedy made said not to bring gifts.

I couldn't resist bringing some gifts for Kelsey.

A pair of shoes, some glasses and a cell phone.

We had such a fun time at Kelsey's birthday party.
