Bear's Paw block

I'm a member of the Bees Knees a Quilting Bee, and I received this cute little package in the mail from Calli, to make two Bears Paw blocks.

I love the fabric, the blocks are darling!

I wanted to show you my phone case, I made it on Shutterfly :)
I get their emails and they are always sending me coupons for free things.
Do you recognize my Farm Girl Vintage quilt?
Win, win!!!

Lunch Bags

I made some lunch boxes, although I like to use them for taking to meetings, or holding a sewing project for the car, there are lots of things you could use this cute little bag for!

I followed a tutorial by Ayumi from Pink Penguin, you can find it on my Pinterest board here.

Each bag is unique, and they are pretty easy to make!

Thanks Ayumi, for the great tutorial :)

A Visit to Super Buzzy!

When I first began quilting about 10 years ago, I found the cutest online shop that sells mostly Japanese fabric.
It was my "secret" favorite shop because I think Japanese fabric is so cute, with all of it's "zakka" style.
I was on vacation in Ventura, California, for a couple of days and googled quilt shops in the area.
I almost choked when I saw that it was home to "Super Buzzy"!!!

I didn't take very good photos, but their shop is really adorable!
Here's some of their Elizabeth Hartman "Pond" fabric which I adore :)
I received a fat eighth bundle of it in my August Sew Sampler box from Fat Quarter Shop.

Their selection of Kona solids is a feast for the eyes!!!

This is part of their sale section, which is always plentiful!
I like that about their shop.

I love this quilt, it's art for your home!

Here's their beautiful Row by Row quilt.

I really love their half square rectangle quilt in soft pastels, and the gorgeous patchwork dresden!

This was my purchase!
Some Paris fabric with the Eiffel tower, to make something for one of my grand daughters.
Some Cotton and Steel which I loved because the pink was neon.
Ayumi's fabric, the teal and gold, which I have wanted forever!
Cute little scissors fabric :)
Hello Kitty and Panda fabric, and of course some text fabric.

Here's a close up of the panda fabric, this is what I love about Japanese fabric.
So darling!!!
It makes me feel like a little girl again, and brings happiness to my soul :)
Notice the sweet selvage!
I have two grand daughters who are "panda lovers".

I bought a whole yard of this "fashion" fabric.
See the little fat quarter on the right?
It comes in 4 colors, and I have one of each.
I made myself an iPad cover out of it.
When I saw the larger version, I just couldn't resist!!!

I hope you've enjoyed my trip to one of my favorite fabric shops that I never dreamed I would visit in person!

Basket Sew Sampler block

I subscribe to Fat Quarter Shop's monthly Sew Sampler box.
Every month, I receive a box full of quilty goodies :)
This year, I decided to sew the enclosed basket blocks which are designed by my friend, Lori Holt.

I made my blocks 10"

I have a little basket full of solid colors, and that's what I'm using to make the baskets.

I'm going to try and use a different background in each block.

This might be my favorite one!

I'm all caught up!
Stay tuned for more in the coming months :)

Lucy's Birthday dress

My little grand daughter Lucy Jane turned four years old.
She loves clothes, lipstick and perfume more than toys, so I decided to make her a dress.
I found this darling fabric called Wonderland, it's by Cotton and Steel.
I ordered the fabric from two stores online, fat quarter shop and fabric.com.

Here's a closeup.
I just love all the pops of color!

I was able to find the perfect gold buttons, they're very thin.

The ribbons are sewn into the side seams, such a cute feature!

I had this extra fabric that I decided not to use on the dress.
I made a bag to match the dress instead :)
I've made this pattern so many times and love it in all the sizes!
This is the "everything" bag.
It's free here.
I adore this bag so much, that I devoted a whole board to it on Pinterest.

This photo lets you see all 5 different fabrics in the Wonderland line that I used.

This is the pattern.

Darling little Lucy loves her dress!

Thanks for stopping by my blog :)

The Improv Spool

I belong to a virtual quilting bee, The Bees Knees, a Quilting Bee.
The ladies in the group are wonderful, although I haven't met any of them in person, yet :)
The month of August was Kim Walus' month to send out a block for us to sew.
She also sent extra fabric as a gift for us to make a block for ourselves.
Kim even asked us which one was our favorite color.
As you can see, I chose mint green :)

The block was paper pieced, but very easy to sew.

Here's the block I made for Kim, she sent all the fabric already cut.

The one on the left is mine, but I like the dark color Kim sent for the spool, better.
I'm always limited to the variety in my stash, lol!

I copied Melissa McCrory and made a mini to hang on my wall.

The free pattern can be found here.
It's by Konda Luckau, she has a lot of cute ideas for the block.

Be My Neighbor

I have a group of Instagram friends, and we always exchange homemade gifts for Christmas and birthdays.
It was becoming quite time consuming, so Lynette came up with the idea of this Be My Neighbor quilt.
You can get the pattern here.
For everyone's birthday, we make them two blocks from the quilt.
We are each pre assigned two blocks, and we make those same two blocks for everyone on their birthday.
There are eight of us, me, Tazzie, Nessa, Joanna, Lynette, Annette, Kristie and Leanne.
The blocks are made with fig tree fabrics and we all used the same Moda color for the background.
Here are the blocks I received on my birthday.

The blocks below are the ones I made :)

Look how beautifully all the blocks match!!!
The rows will be separated by sashing in the background color.

Every quilt has a story, this is one about friendships :)
