Scrappy Cross Roads Table topper

I finally finished my Scrappy Cross Roads Table topper!
It's been almost 4 years since I sewed the blocks, you can see my post here.
Each block measures 16", I made 4 of them to create the table
topper.
The table topper is 32" square.
It's one of those pieces that you have to examine, to figure out how the blocks were sewn.

I used a scrappy binding and machine quilted in the ditch.
I like the look, with all of the squares to match the scrappy patches.

I love so many of these squares that were leftover from various projects!

I backed the table topper with a Riley Blake Chevron.
I'm anxious to use my new table topper!

Lori Holt's free tutorial can be found on her blog.
She's responsible for so much of my inspiration!

Scrappy Cross Roads

I made two scrappy cross roads blocks a few weeks ago, you can see them here.
I have a scrap bin with 2 l/2" wide scraps in it, grouped by color.
It wasn't as time consuming to make a block, I already had lots of
2 l/2" squares, or 2 l/2" strips that I could cut into squares :)
I made 2 more blocks, making a total of 4 which equalled a beautiful square!
It was so much fun using all of my happy scraps.
The color combinations are endless.
I'm thinking of making one of my daughters a blue one to go on her dining room table.

I had enough squares cut out to make a 5th block.
Wouldn't this make a beautiful quilt?
I think I will make a mini quilt from my 5th square :)

Scrappy Cross Roads Block

Lori from Bee in my Bonnet had a tutorial for her Scrappy Cross Roads Block on Instagram, you can read about it on her blog here.
I decided to make it, and pulled 48 -  2 1/2" squares from my 2 l/2" scrap box.
I cut enough for two blocks :)

It also takes 8 - 4 l/2" squares from background fabric.
I chose Kona Pond for my background.

I made 8 easy corner triangles, and used up 16 of my 2 l/2" squares.

I sewed squares together, and laid them all out on my design board.
Can you see how easy it is?

Ta Da!  My beautiful Scrappy Cross Roads Block!

I organized my 2 l/2" squares into color categories....

.... and made another block!
I want to make 2 more to make a pretty square.
Each block measures 16" square.
I really enjoyed making my Scrappy Cross Roads Blocks :)
