Doll Clothes

I made some doll clothes for Sabrina's 3rd birthday.  It's a lot of fun making 18" doll clothes. They're not too tiny and all have velcro to close the backs instead of zippers, buttons or snaps.

I use these patterns when they go on sale at Joann's Fabric store.

I may make her some more clothes when she's four if she really loves them and still plays with her dolls 💗

I've made lots of doll clothes, here are some that I made for Lucy.

I made these clothes for Izzy's doll.

I made these clothes for Charlotte's doll and here too!

Clothes for Kennedy's doll.

An incredible fashion show for Kennedy's doll ❤️

I bet there are still more doll clothes in my future! Thanks for following me and see you again next week.

Doll Clothes

My grand daughter is turning 11 and she still loves her 18" American dolls. It helps that she has sisters to play dolls with too!  I made her some doll clothes for her birthday and used my doll Red Rose, to do the modeling.

This fabric has a sparkly thread woven into it, and it wasn't very easy to sew.  There was a lot of unravelling, so I had to secure all the seam allowances with an overcast stitch.  It wasn't the most desirable fabric to work with...

Here is Red Rose modeling a garden outfit.  A nice broad rimmed hat to keep the sun out of her eyes, and a cute apron with blue vintage rick rack trim.  Red Rose has her garden bag full of some of her beautiful flowers that she just picked from her garden.  She's still waiting for her strawberries and blueberries to grow and become ripe.

This is a cute retro looking outfit with lots of detail.  I hand stitched the crocheted butterfly to the pocket.

This sporty outfit comes with a nice green sash to tie her hair back.

I think Charlotte will like these clothes for her doll, it's always nice to refresh your wardrobe :)

Doll Clothes

I have 10 grand daughters, and lucky for them, I enjoy sewing doll clothes :)
Four of my grand daughters received an 18" doll for Christmas this year, along with a dress I made for them.
My doll Red Rose, is modeling a dress I made for Reagan's doll.
I know that Reagan really likes purple....so does Red Rose!

I used the pattern on the top left for the purple dress.
This rectangle dress pattern is kind of interesting.
The McCall's pattern dresses have the same pattern pieces as regular clothes, just smaller.
The rectangle dress pattern is perfect for quilters.
You just measure and cut the pieces out with a rotary cutter.

I made this dress for Kylie's doll.

This is the dress I made for Kylie's sister, Neo's doll.

I found Red Rose at her sewing machine!!! Lol

The rectangle dress pattern is easy, because you cut it up the back, press the seam back l/4" and sew the velcro onto the seam.
Pretty easy!
I don't know if you can tell, but I cut the length of velcro that I needed, and cut up the middle of it.
One length of velcro can be used for 2 dresses.

I always make the dress to match the accessory.

I forgot to take a photo of the dress I made for Lucy's doll...
I used leftover fabric from a dress she wore on Hallowe'en, a couple of years ago.
I asked her 9 year old sister Kennedy, if she would take a photo of Lucy's doll wearing the dress.
This is what her mom sent me!
Two dolls, one named Lucy and one named Dana :)

I also used McCall's 5554 for this dress, the lower right version.

Kennedy who is 9, is very lucky!
She's the oldest grand daughter by 3 years.
Since I had more time, I made her a complete wardrobe for her doll.
You can see it here.
I made quite a few clothes for my grand daughter Reagan too, for her 12" long baby doll.
You can see it here.
I repurposed some clothing for doll clothes too, see it here.
I see lots more doll clothes in my future!

Red Rose

I bought this cute doll at Home Goods, so my grand daughters can play with her when they come to visit.
She is an 18" Miss Alexander doll and I think she needs another outfit!
When I was about 9 years old, I read a certain fairy tale (don't remember which one) that had a princess named Red Rose.
For some strange reason, I wished that my parents had named me Red Rose!
It's now a family joke, so of course I named my new doll Red Rose.

I found the time to make Red Rose a cute dress.
The fabric is leftover from a skirt I helped my daughter make.

Don't you think Red Rose looks elegant in her new dress?
I really like making doll clothes :)

Doll Clothes for Christmas

One of my grand daughters loves baby dolls so much!
I love to watch her as she holds them and talks to them :)
For Christmas this year, she is getting some doll outfits.
Here is the pattern I used, which includes sizes Small (8"-10"), Medium (11"-13"), and Large (14"-16").

I searched through many stores until I found a little suitcase in her favorite color, purple :)

I made her doll Tanja, a little dress.

I made Tanja a little pinafore, diaper cover and hair band.

There is an option to wear the pinafore ensemble with the dress.

I made her a little sleeper with matching hat in her favorite color.

I made her other doll Chloe, a little top with a matching jumper.

le

The top is repurposed, it used to be one of my tee shirts.
I sewed little buttons on the shoulders.

I sure hope she'll enjoy many hours of dressing her baby dolls.
A lot of love went into this gift!
I sure do enjoy sewing for my grandchildren :)

Doll Clothes

I have a pair of pants that are one size too small....
I was going to give them to the thrift store but then I remembered that Kelsie (my grand daughter's 18" doll) needed a pair of pants.
I decided to reuse!

Kelsie has a pair of white jeans for the summer, and they're from Gap :)

I made a cute little top and Kelsie has a new outfit!

This is the back of the top, I love the little button :)

I had a shirt that I loved too.  I thought the embroidery would be cute on a doll outfit.

It was a little difficult to sew because the embroidery was thick and it was hard to sew such little seams.

The top also matches this little striped pair of leggings.
I cut the leggings out of an old shirt, but forgot to take a photo of it. The lace on the printed top with the white pants, is also from the striped shirt.

If you're interested in dolls, I posted about Kelsey's fashion show here.  I made her a whole wardrobe full of clothes!

I posted about Kelsey's birthday party here.

In conclusion, I think I need to buy myself a doll!  Ha ha!!
I really enjoy sewing doll clothes :)

Kelsey's Fashion show, especially for Kennedy

Santa Claus gave my grandaughter Kennedy, a beautiful doll for Christmas.  Her name is Kelsey.  Grandpa and Grammy (me) bought Kennedy a wardrobe closet for Kelsey, and I sewed a wardrobe to fill the closet.
It was so much fun sewing doll clothes, especially knowing how much Kennedy would love dressing her doll.  Here are some of the patterns I used to create Kelsey's wardrobe.

I present to you, a fashion show starring Kelsey and her many outfits.

The shirt and leggings were made from one of Lindsay's (my daughter, Kennedy's mother) tee shirts. The ruffles on the skirt weren't finished on the hem.  I put a little bit of fray check along the raw edge so that the ruffles won't fray.  It worked perfectly!

Kelsey is sporting the same top and leggings, except now she has a little tunic.  Notice the teeny weeny little yo yos along the front.

Kelsey's outfit is made entirely of fleece with a little fur trim along the cuff of her mittens and the cuff of her boots.  The white jumper is worn on top of a blue fleece top.

Kelsey is dressed for a morning at the gym.  Notice the contrasting trim along the sides of her pants and along her sleeves.  Kelsey must be going to yoga class, because she is carrying her yoga bag.

Kelsey is doing a plank!  She is one talented doll :)  The tee shirt she is wearing is an old one of mine.  If you were wondering, my shirt was much much bigger, I had to cut it down to fit Kelsey.

Kelsey is ready for the rodeo.  She has been practicing her lasso skills.  Notice her adorable boots?

Kelsey is a very active girl.  She is going swimming in her sunshine yellow bathing suit, complete with flippers

Kelsey is wearing her "Fancy Nancy" dress with a big green silk bow.

Kelsey is ready to cook, complete with apron, chef's hat, towel and oven mitt.

Kelsey also takes ballet lessons.  Her leotard is made from one of Lindsay's tee shirts.  I broke a couple of sewing machine needles, sewing over the beads.

After a long day, Kelsey wants some rest and relaxation.  She sports her p.j.'s and puts on her pretty robe with matching slippers

`

Kennedy really loves Kelsey.  They have a lot in common.  They both love to dress up, they both have big blue eyes, and they both like dance class.

Kennedy and I re organized Kelsey's closet and folded everything neatly and put it away.

Kelsey wanted to help us get ready for a tea party.  Voice by Kennedy who is 4 l/2 years old ♥  Filmed by Kennedy also

Thanks so much for watching the fashion show and learning a little bit about Kennedy and Kelsey.
