Heart of the Home quilt

 I've posted about this quilt a few times, you can see the first post here.

Sherri and Chelsi have done such a fantastic job designing this quilt. I pulled fabric from my stash, but I did have to buy fabric for the border and binding.  I chose colors that are similar to the quilt on the cover.

Here is the quilt just before sunset with a slight golden hue.

This is the first log cabin quilt that I've made.

Can you see the beautiful long arm quilting design? My friend Marti from Lynny Lou Crafts in Gilbert has great taste choosing pantographs

I used this fabric for the back of the quilt. I thought the colors and flower print matched very well.

These photos are better at showing the quilt's true colors.

Toy Sewing Machine quilt

 I told you a couple of weeks ago that I was working on Lori Holt's "toy sewing machine" quilt.  I thought there were only 25 blocks, but there are 30! I'm currently sewing the extra 5 and have 3 more to go.

There will be scrappy background sashing between the rows, with cornerstones between them, and a border. 

I'm so excited to finish up this quilt, I think it's really cute!

Strawberry Jam quilt

 I've had quite a bit of sewing time lately and have been working on a few quilts.  This one is called Strawberry Jam by A Crafty Fox.

I used 12 fat quarters for the strawberries and many more for all of the 2 1/2" squares in red. It really helped to have a design board to lay the blocks on, step back and make sure the color values were correct.

Again, the design wall really helped!

I really love all the low volume fabrics that I pulled from my stash.

I cut out every single square, lol! I pinned the squares at the seams with fine little schoolhouse pins.

I had quite a few low volume squares left, but I know I can use them in other projects.

These are some extra red squares that I had, I used the rest in the quilt.

This quilt is an organized scrappy one, it definitely looks like strawberry jam!

These are my leftover pieces of low volumes and I can always use low volume fabric! My quilt is at my long arm quilters now, I'll show it to you when I get it back and bound. ❤️

Toy Sewing Machine quilt

At our Farm Girl quilt group, we love Lori Holt ❤️

I found the cutest little block that I want to make a quilt out of, inside this fantabulous book!

I need to make 25 blocks, so I auditioned fabrics for the blocks, five or six at a time.

The cutest toy sewing machine!!!  They are 9" each and are so much fun to make.  They are fast to cut out and fast to sew, and very scrappy and rewarding to make!

Each one is just as cute as the other!

One of my favorite parts of making a quilt is choosing the colors.

I've made all of these blocks at our quilt group, which usually meets twice a month.

The color possibilities and combinations are endless....

I only have another meeting's worth to make and then I'll start assembling them together, with scrappy background sashing.

I hope this toy sewing machine will appeal to a young girl because it looks like I'm amassing more quilts for a grandchildren giveaway.

Some of them I'll have a very difficult time giving away though. 🥲

Regent Street quilt

I made Amy Smart's Regent Street quilt pattern from Ruby Star Society's "Strawberries and Friends" fabric line.  I found Ruby Star solids to accentuate all of the strawberries.  I love it so much! 

The Union Jack flag used to also be Canada's flag until 1967 when Canada turned 100 years old. Then Canada chose the red maple leaf from sea to golden sea.  It was really difficult trying to draw the Union Jack flag as a child because the lines are different widths!

It's such a great feeling to finish a quilt after you've spend so many hours on it, and loved it along it's journey from start to completion!

I took my finished quilt to the park to photograph it, but it was way too windy and the sun was just going down, casting a beautiful golden glow on it.

Checkerboard Quilt, finished!

I finished my Checkerboard quilt! My long arm quilter did an incredible job on the quilting, I love it so much ❤️ My grand daughters went to the park with me to help me take photographs.

The sun was beginning to go down, so there is a golden hue on this photograph.  You can see the quilting really well, it's very dense and fits the quilt perfectly!  Marti @ Lynny Lou Crafts in Gilbert, Arizona, machine quilted it.

The wind was so wild, we weren't able to get many good photos :)

I shared my quilt at our Farm Girls quilt group where we make all of our awesome Lori Holt quilts.  In a previous post, I said this quilt pattern was in Lori's Project Planner. 

When I had completed my quilt, I realized that the pattern is also in Lori's book Scrappiness is Happiness.  I didn't recognized it because it has a dark background in the book.

Something that makes this quilt so special, is that it is made entirely of my scraps.  I organize my scraps the Lori Holt way.  1 1/2" squares and strips, 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" etc.  This quilt took 1 1/2" and 2 1/2" squares and strips.  I can look at so many pieces in this quilt and remember what previous quilt I used it in, or a dress that I made one of my grand daughters or a bag that I made.

This photo shows all the different low volumes and some of the fussy cuts and the pretty low volume print that I used for the border.

This was a fun quilt to make, I didn't have to worry about which color went where, I just grabbed a piece and sewed. It would have been a good leaders and enders quilt.

Heart of the Home quilt along, finished!

 I finished my quilt top! It was a very windy evening, I did the best I could with the photos :)

I love the colors that I chose, and all of the low volumes.

I'm very happy that I was able to use my fabric stash to make this quilt. I took these photos outside after the sun had gone down, but the colors aren't true.  I have a lot of orange in the blocks but it doesn't really show.

I've made log cabin blocks before, but never in a whole quilt like this.  I like the effect it has, of color and low volume. I chose a low volume print for the border too.

Everyone always asks me what I'm going to do with my quilt when it's complete.  I have no idea!  Maybe I'll have another giveaway with the grandchildren. A lot of love and money goes into making these quilts.
