Toy Sewing Machine quilt

At our Farm Girl quilt group, we love Lori Holt ❤️

I found the cutest little block that I want to make a quilt out of, inside this fantabulous book!

I need to make 25 blocks, so I auditioned fabrics for the blocks, five or six at a time.

The cutest toy sewing machine!!!  They are 9" each and are so much fun to make.  They are fast to cut out and fast to sew, and very scrappy and rewarding to make!

Each one is just as cute as the other!

One of my favorite parts of making a quilt is choosing the colors.

I've made all of these blocks at our quilt group, which usually meets twice a month.

The color possibilities and combinations are endless....

I only have another meeting's worth to make and then I'll start assembling them together, with scrappy background sashing.

I hope this toy sewing machine will appeal to a young girl because it looks like I'm amassing more quilts for a grandchildren giveaway.

Some of them I'll have a very difficult time giving away though. 🥲

Here's a link to Lori's YouTube channel where she shares a tutorial of this 9" toy sewing machine block.

Thanks for following and I'll see you next week :)

Red, Whire and Blue quilt

 Hi Everyone!

I finished my red, white and blue quilt using criss cross star blocks from Lori Holt's Scrappiness is Happiness book.  It was a fun block, because your star points float on the background and they don't have to be "perfect". I used the picnic setting which can be found in Lori's Farm Girl Vintage book.

Here is our Farm Girl quilt group, we had a criss cross block exchange. Shirley (holding her quilt)  won first place, we all had a chance to vote.

I was really surprised to come in second!
I only used my scraps for this quilt.

On the back, I used some extra stars that didn't fit on the quilt.

I always try and add a label.  This label is from a subscription I had to Sweetwater, they printed my name on them.

Thanks for following along, I have a really pretty quilt to show you next week :)

Criss Cross Star blocks

I'm making lots and lots of stars!  Criss cross stars that is, from Lori Holt's Scrappiness is Hapiness book. The points don't have to be perfect, the star sort of floats on the square :)

This is my design wall right now.

I've made both 12" and 6" blocks.

I'm participating in a block exchange with my quilt group,
Farm Girl Chicks.  We each make and turn in twelve 12" blocks, and we get twelve back. The same with the 6" blocks.

I will be making the picnic quilt layout, found in Lori Holt's
Farm Girl Vintage book.

The blocks must all be red, white and blue, not pinks and the points must be all the same color.

I just love block exchanges!  Even if you get an ugly one, it always blends into the quilt and looks beautiful!

I hope to put this quilt together soon :)

Scrappiness is Happiness

This is Lori Holt's new quilt pattern book and it has so many cute patterns in it! One of my favorites is the Santa hats quilt.

Lori had a tutorial on one of her You Tube videos for this Santa hat pattern. She suggested that you could embroidery family members' names on the brim.  I began doing that and love how it is turning out!  I'm going to embroider all 29 members of my family, with 3 extra hats to spare!  I hope to have it completed by Christmas :)

Have a great week! ❤️
