Quilt Retreat

I'm going on a quilt retreat in a few weeks. There's always a lot to do to prepare....I cut out this Reindeer Xing by Lella Boutique, to make at the retreat.  I cut the fabric up and I'll sew it all back together again, lol! I worked on the cutting for a few days.

At this particular retreat, we can participate in a game and make something handmade. I made this one yard apron by Lori Holt.  I've made many of them, and had so much fun choosing some of Lori's Bake Sale fabric that I had in my stash.

We bring our handmade item in a brown paper bag that is stapled shut and put it on the table.  Linda, our host, calls out a name.  We all watch and ooh and ahh as that person opens the bag.  The next person opens a bag and she can either keep her item or choose one that's already been opened.  The item can only be taken three times.  After that, it can't be traded anymore.  It's a really fun game!  Every year, at least one person makes a quilt for the exchange!  Really fun :)

I like to prepare in advance, because who knows what might come up at the last minute and I won't have time to finish my preparations for the retreat.  Besides, I'm really excited to go!  It's just an hour away and it's for four days.

I just noticed that I forgot to sew the jumbo rick rack to the hem of the apron!  I'll add it tomorrow.

Thanks for following me and have a great week ❤️

One Yard Apron

I made a One Yard Apron, the instructions are by Lori Holt.  Instead of adding two pockets in the front, I added a continuous pocket piece with I divided into four. I made it for my daughter in law who has just become a second grade teacher :)

Here's a close up of the fabric, alphabet letters and instructions on how to make a pillowcase.  I thought the children would enjoy reading the words. I wonder what she's going to put in all those pockets!

I've made this pattern before, I really like it.  You can see the others I've made here.

See you on Thursday for the Jolly Bar 4 QAL.

One Yard Apron

Lori Holt has the cutest apron pattern, it's called  "one yard apron."
Lori's daughter Kassidy is featured on the pattern cover.

Here is the apron I made, when the pattern first came out.
Not the best photo, sorry about that.
I love the extra large pom pom trim!
It's such a flattering apron, with its wide waistband, too.
I wrote a post about it over six years ago, you can see it here.

This is another one yard apron, I received it at Christmas one year from a dear friend.

I'm going to a Lori Holt retreat this week, I am so excited!
My friend Natalie is flying in from California to go with me.
Lori requested that we all make a one yard apron
 for an apron exchange.
I made this one from Lori's line, "Gracie Girl".
It's hard to notice, but I added the cutest ruffled ric rac trim.

Well wish me luck, I'm in for a week of fun and inspiration.
I'll post photos next week of my retreat adventures :)

One Yard Apron

This is one of my favorite apron patterns!

I decided to make one of my own.

I love the jumbo pom poms!

Do you think I'd get any looks if I wore my apron to the grocery store?  I love the different prints of the wide waistband and the tie, matching the different prints on the pocket.

I really like the wide bow tie at the back, very vintage :)
The apron is really easy, quick and fun to make!
