My Fabric Stash

I always wonder what other quilters' fabric stashes look like.

I told you that I was on a fabric fast for most of the year 2018. 

I would like to introduce you to my stash.....

In the photo below, the blue circle is my low volume fabric.

If I have half of a yard or more of fabric, 

I wrap it around a "comic cardboard" and put it on the shelf.

It almost looks like miniature bolts of fabric, much easier to see.

The green circle is my "prints" fabric, 

that are too busy to be devoted to a particular color.

The yellow circle is my blue fabric, 

 the red circle is my pink fabric,

 and the black circle is my yellow and orange fabric.

This shelf is next to the previous one in the closet.

This part of my stash is more interesting than the previous cupboard.

The green circle is the fabric I like to use for borders or quilt backs.

This fabric is also wrapped around the comic cardboards, but it has to be at least a yard long to be on this shelf.

The fabric within the yellow circles and 

green circle is my Lori Holt fabric!

I'm obviously a big fan of Lori's fabric, 

and everything that she does!

I used to buy every single piece of every line, but I have to be selective now because I just wouldn't have room!

The red circle is my Christmas fabric.

I love decorating this cupboard, I actually have two of them.

All my precious sewing things go in this space.

The blue circle is my Aneela Hooey fabric.

I was really disappointed when she stopped designing, 

I loved her style.

The yellow circles are my Bonnie and Camille fabric.

What quilter doesn't have their fabric? Lol!

The blue circle is my Pam Kitty fabric which I absolutely love!

I wish she was still designing fabric too...

All the other little stacks are fat quarters divided by color....

orange, blue, red, yellow, pink and green.

This is my second cupboard of fabric.

The bolts on the middle shelf are there for looks :)

My daughter and I found them (they were wrapped in plastic from the factory) at a garage sale one day.  

There were five and we split them up.

I have plans for them but just have to get a few quilts quilted.

 The blue circles are Heather Ross and Heather Bailey.

I really love those designers.

I tend to like "little girl" prints, 

maybe that's why I love them so much!

The green circle is a little bit of Amy Sinibaldi.

I love her fabric so much, but I can only buy so much...

as it is, I'm going to die before I have the chance to quilt with all this fabric!

The red circle is fat quarters from Amy Butler and various cute little Japanese prints.

This little drawer is full of miscellaneous printed fat quarters.

This drawer is full of some fat quarter bundles and 

dark colored fat quarters.

This basket is full of low volume fat quarters, and black and whites.

This is some of the first fat quarters I ever bought, 

they're 1930's prints.

I used to go to Material Girls quilts in South Jordan, Utah and visit with Nadine, and choose happy little fat quarters.

I have one more box that I forgot to take a photo of, it's a little larger than a shoe box.

It's full of fat quarters that are little children prints.

Vintage Block Along, sparklers

I made Lori's "sparkler" blocks in the Vintage Block Along.

I really think that my favorite part about quilting is 

choosing the fabric.

My fabric stash is pretty large, I look at it and love it, but can't imagine using it in my lifetime, lol!

The year 2018, I went on a fabric fast.

It worked out really well until the fall when I began going to my Farm Girl Chicks group at Quilter's Oasis, a local quilt shop.

I bought some of Lori's latest fabric....

I have a problem....

Anyway, I have been using mostly

Lori Holt fabric for this quilt along.

I try to copy the colors she uses, but maybe not the same print.

This is my version of Lori's "sparkler" blocks.

Next week, I'll give you an inside look at my fabric stash.

It will be more than some and less than others!!!

Vintage Block Along, continued

I want to update you on my "Vintage Block Along" progress.

I used fabric designed by Lori, but not necessarily the fabric that she chose for her blocks.

I made these blocks mine my own :)

This is the Front Yard Flower.

It definately looks like a flower, very pretty!

I love those shades of pink :)

This is the Memory block, although I haven't trimmed mine yet.

Here is the Farmer's Daughter, I made four of them :)

This is the Potluck block, measuring 18" square.

 This is the Spools and Bobbins block, 

because it looks like a spool and bobbin!

Lastly, this is the Picnic block.

It's one of my favorites with its bright, vivid colors!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my blocks.

I can hardly wait to see how Lori puts all these blocks together!

In my experience, we are in for a treat :)

Farm Girl Chicks

Remember in the last post, 

I told you that most of my sewing room is packed?

Well I was able to salvage two bins of projects.

The first is the Lori Holt "farmhouse" quilt that I work on at

Farm Girl Chicks, twice a month.

These are some of my chicks!

A couple of years ago, one of the chicks found these recipe book holders at Hobby Lobby.

Everyone ran there to buy their own and use them as pattern book holders.

They say "Farm Fresh" on them :)

(I'm in the back under the silo)

We only work on Lori Holt projects, but we can share any projects we've worked on recently.
Brenda and Susan are showing off their beautiful "Tilda" dolls.

Nedra made this beautiful Elizabeth Hartman quilt called

"Awesome Ocean", from a kit.

I want to make one now!!!

 Nedra also made a "plus" quilt from Cotton and Steel scraps.

I really want to make one like it too!

Nedra didn't have a big enough piece for the back, so she created her own :)

I think it's a great idea and tip!

Look at this beautiful Lella Boutique quilt!

Here's Brenda's Elizabeth Hartman "Penguin Party" quilt.

She backed it in flannel and didn't use any quilt batting.

It is very drapey and snuggly, a great idea!

I love the background too :)

Brenda designed the eyeglasses, so cute!

Nedra finished and sewed together all the blocks for her Lori Holt 

"Spelling Bee" quilt.

I've decided I'm going to make this at Farm Girl Chicks 

when I've finished "Farmhouse".

Nedra used "Blueberry Park" fabric by Karen Lewis, perfect!

This is Nancy, the creator and "heart" of our 

Farm Girl Chicks group.

Nancy made the "Checkerboard" quilt which can be found

in Lori Holt's Scrappy Project Planner.

It's gorgeous, so scrappy!

Here is a photo of my very bare sewing room :(

Yes, my fabric are in the cupboard and on the shelves in the closet, but all of my tools are temporarily packed.

I just need to buy a rotary cutter...

then I might be able to create something...sometime...

Something Old, Something New

I used to love taking Art at school!

When I was 17 years old, I took a stool and easel and sat in front of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Montreal and 

painted this watercolor rendition.

My mother wanted me to get it framed, but I never did.

It sat in a cardboard tube for 45 years.

As we were staging our home, my husband came across the tube and asked me what it was.

I told him and continued on with what I was doing.

He gave me this framed painting for Mother's Day!

Priceless!!!

Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild

I went to my guild meeting on Saturday,

the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild.

I wanted to show you some of the quilts that the ladies made :)

This is just plain cute and very appropriate for Arizona!

I love this 3D looking baby quilt :)

My friend Nedra made this cute Elizabeth Hartman penguin quilt.

This quilt is stunning!

Nedra said she made it as a leaders and enders quilt this past year.

It's 4 little 1 1/2" squares, sewn together!

It must have been so time consuming.

I'm going to have a difficult time showing you my quilting projects, because all of my tools are packed up.

We had to stage our house to sell.

We are building a new home a half mile down the street :)

Sewology

Hi Everyone!

We moved to the Phoenix area last June, almost a year ago!

I joined the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild and have really been enjoying it, everyone's very friendly :)

I jumped right into the BOM 2018, Sewology.

Lindsey from Pen and Paper patterns designed it, she's in our guild.

I'm happy to announce that I finished the top!!!

One of my favorite processes of making a quilt, is choosing the fabric.

First I bought the background fabric at Quilter's Oasis in Mesa.

I studied the different background options 

and liked the rich look of dark gray.

I had a lot of catching up to do, but had seen this quilt on Instagram so many times and was really excited to make it myself!

I delved into my fabric stash and chose every one of these bold, vibrant colors.

The last step that I had to do to finish my top, was cut out, press and stitch the "button" letters onto the orange fabric.

I wish I had sewn my rotary cutter in another color besides yellow, but I'm still thrilled with the outcome.

My stash is a little lighter, but I still have a lot to work with!
