Stay Gold panel quilt

 My friend and I are making this quilt together.  We haven't sewn together in a month but so far, we each have 10 blocks made.  We are only making 20 blocks, four across and five down. The fabric line is called "Stay Gold" by Ruby Star Society.  I think it's such beautiful fabric, I would really love to buy some more!  

I think we're kindred spirits!!! The fabric and I!

Here is my design wall and all the blocks I've sewn sew far.  We are using the large Quilt in a Day flying geese ruler, making it so fast and easy to sew the blocks together.  If you haven't tried it, you should! On my ironing board, I have the rest of the blocks cut out.  I was having a great time choosing two fabrics for each block, but towards the end, I wasn't having as much selection.  I bought some selected fat quarters and some yardage (1/2 yard each) of three big prints. I should have bought a fat quarter bundle....

The fabric actually has some metallic gold in most of the prints.

Each quilt panel is 2 yards and comes with 40 designs.

I used most of the vintage prints.  The designs I didn't use, were birds, butterflies and flowers.  I would like to use them for a different project.

I love pens, so this choice was perfect!

I'm really looking forward to finishing this quilt, it might take us another three sew days because well...we talk a lot! 😂

Projects that I have on the go (WIPs) aka works in progress:

- Riley Blake Design Block Challenge (I'm about 3 or 4 weeks behind)

- Fat Quarter's Heartfelt:  I have April's blocks cut out but not sewn.

- Silent Night, just need to cut the sashing and sew the blocks together

- Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild quilting bee:  still need to paper piece April's block and finish cutting my blocks out for the month of June.

- My Adobe Illustrator goals have been on the back burner, I need to set aside time to work on that. 😩

I finished my "secret sewing" quilt and another commissioned quilt 🎉

Family Time

 I wasn't able to do any sewing last week, but had a wonderful time with family.  We had five children and some of their families together at one time.  It was heavenly!  My brother came to visit as well, this was his welcoming committee.  My brother Wayne is the third from the left with the blue shirt and brown pants. 

Here's a photo of me with my brother Wayne and my son Addison photobombing us in the back.  That's what he loves to do, lol!

Monogrammed Zipper Pouch

I think this monogrammed zipper pouch is so cute! You can see the tutorial by Make It and Love It here.

I used some striped cats from Cotton & Steel, some Essex linen and the last little bit of this Rifle Paper Co print that I had. My rick rack is vintage with some silver thread.  Do you see the little embroidery stitches I made along the seam? I love doing things like that :)

I seriously love Rifle Paper Co, but isn't this print the best?

Look at the darling little gummy bear zipper pull!

I have an app on my phone called Aliexpress.  I order cute little things like this from China for pennies.  

I used a blanket stitch on my sewing machine to attach the "J".

The zipper pouch is even lined with a cute Rifle Paper Co print.

I've still got a lot of quilts under construction and have paused sewing for a week because my family is visiting.  I'm working on a couple of secret projects too that are taking priority.

I hope you choose to make this little pouch, it's very quick and very easy.  The zipper's easy to attach.

Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild

 I have quite a few quilts in the works right now, but nothing to show you.  I'm also working on a secret project...and a commissioned quilt.

I belong to the Phoenix Modern Quilt guild and I'll show some of the quilts that my friend Nedra shared for Show and Tell.

This first quilt is called Silent Night by Pattern Basket.  One of our chickies showed her quilt after Christmas last year at our Farm Girl Chicks group and we just loved it!  About 6 or 7 of us rushed into the quilt shop and purchased the fabric :) It's so different, and it reminds me of the Christmas Eve during World War II that the Germans and the Americans stopped fighting and sang Christmas carols.  Soft and silent.  The fabric is called Christmas Morning by Lela Boutique.  I'm making this quilt also, but won't be able to finish it until May.  

This quilt is on my list too. I didn't really know for certain that it was on my list until I saw Nedra's version.  The pattern is the picnic layout from Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt.  The blocks are Scrappy Leaves.  Nedra just pulled all of her fall colors and even used scrappy backgrounds. I think the color palette is gorgeous!

It's going to be my next project at Farm Girl Chicks, since we can only work on Lori Holt projects :)

I absolutely love this quilt also!!! The pattern is called Nova Star and the fat quarter bundle was curated by Meghan of Then Came June. The prints and the colors are very different.  I think the quilt is very eye catching.

 I'm caught up on my RBD block challenge.  I have really enjoyed making these blocks from Tasha Noel fabrics!

Tell Me a Story block swap

 Amy Friend from her blog/Instagram, is During Quiet Time.  These are the blocks that I made for the swap.

Once upon a time, there was a huge killer whale.  His name was Shampoo and he wanted to swim in the beautiful blue ocean with his family.  There was a problem though, he was in the confines of an aquarium.  As luck would have it, he was able to swim free one day.  All of his dreams came true, as there was his family waiting for him.  Off they swam together, as free as killer whales in the deep blue sea. 

Once upon a time there was a girl named little Miss Paisley. She grew up on a farm and loved doing her daily chores.  One of her favorites chores was milking her cow Bessie.  She would  take the bucket of milk to the kitchen and skim off the cream.  Carefully, she poured the cream into a little jar and screwed on the lid and put it in a basket.  Off she skipped to the garden where she could have some privacy.  She laid out a little picnic quilt and sat down on it right next to a strawberry runner.  Large, red, plump strawberries.  She carefully plucked the prettiest, juciest ones, put them in a bowl and poured some cream on top.  She savored every bite and dreamed of all the wonderful and incredible things she would one day accomplish.

Lola the llama thought she was better than all of the other llamas.  She pranced around on her tippy toes and showed off her white curly fur.  Lola prided herself on never having been pricked by a cactus needle.  "Oh, I'm so smart", she thought.  The other llamas thought of cactus needles as pins and needles.  Lola thought of cactus needles as safety pins.  

One weekend, there were some little scouts roasting marshmallows over an open fire.  They were laughing, thinking that they dodged the other scouts by sneaking away.  Little did they realize that they left their footprints everywhere, which led the other scouts right to them. 

Once upon a time there was a little kitty cat. She loved growing beautiful flowers and was so happy when it rained because her flowers became really big!

Once upon a time there lived a little cat who loved bird watching.  She stood in her garden where she had a perfect view of them in their nests.  One by one, the birds began disappearing.  To this day, no one knows what ever happened to them...

And that folks, is the end of my story telling for today 😊 

 

Stay Gold

 I’ve fallen in love with the most beautiful fabric that I just couldn’t resist. It’s called Stay Gold by Melody Miller for Ruby Star Society.

These fat quarters are so beautiful, Ruby Star and Cotton & Steel are my personal favorites right now. I also bought this two yard panel with designs from the designer’s past fabric lines. 

My friend Nedra and I are going to make this quilt together. The blocks are ver big, we’ve each made three when we got together for a sew day last week. We’re making the quilt below. 

The quilt is a little too big so we are going to make 4 blocks across and 5 blocks down. 

I think I must have 5 quilts in progress!
