Come Together quilt

There's a quilting book I have which I just love, it's called "Modern Bee, 13 quilts to make with friends, by Lindsey Conner.
This block is called "Come Together", and I chose it for my Bees Knees, a quilting bee.

I was making the quilt for my son in law, and needed something on the masculine side :)
I bought some beautiful Kona teal, Kona Snow White, and used some  Denyse Schmidt fat quarters that I had in my stash.
The black print corners are Cotton and Steel.
I cut the fabric and made kits for each of my bee friends.

The blocks matched up perfectly, and I began machine quilting!
I quilted crosshatch squares, about an inch and a half apart.

I took a class on Craftsy, by Jacquie Gehring.
She told us to put painter's tape on the sandwiched quilt, to guide our first machine quilting line, from corner to corner.
After that, I used the guide on my walking foot to follow.

Yay, I successfully quilted the whole thing!
It was a windy day when I photographed my quilt.

I backed the quilt with orange, it's my son in law's favorite color.

I really wanted to keep the quilt for myself, lol!

There are little paw prints in the shape of circles on the orange fabric.
My son in law has 5 dogs, so I thought it was perfect!

Thanks for following my blog :)

Amazon Kindle Cases

I made 4 little Amazon Kindle cases, for 4 little grand daughters.
I made this one for Paisley, because the little girl with the round cheeks reminded me of her :)

I had to show you a photo of the back, because I think that little farm girl is so cute!

I made this one for Kylie, just because!

I love Japanese fabric, the little characters are so colorful and interesting.

I made this one for Neo, just because flamingos are so pretty!

I made this one for Reagan, because she loves Panda bears :)

Even the inside has pandas!!!

Here are all of the little cases that they got as an extra gift from me.
But guess what?
Their kindles didn't fit, because I didn't realize that they all had safety covers!
Kylie loved hers though!
She carried it around all week with her treasures and candy, lol!
You can find the tutorial here by Fresh Lemon Quilts, except I changed the measurements.

Thanks for following me and my creations :)

Doll Bassinet

I made a really cute little bassinet for my grand daughter Taylor, for Christmas.
You can find the tutorial here.

I chose a soft pastel with pink, red and gray to match the baby doll's outfit.

You can see the simple crosshatch quilting I did.

I couldn't make a bassinet without making a quilt and a pillow!

This doll's so cute, I almost wanted to keep her for myself, lol!

I love the back of the quilt too, it's really happy!

This is my adorable little grand daughter Taylor, she'll be 2 years old next month!
She and her sisters visited for Christmas, and I was able to watch her open her gift, bonus!!!

I've made quite a few of these bassinets, you can see them here, here, here and here.
Thanks for reading my blog :)

Kylie's Birthday Dress

I made another dress from a McCall's pattern, this one is for my grand daughter Kylie's 5th birthday!
The fabric is called "A Little Sweetness" by Tasha Noel.

The bag is called Lined Drawstring Bag, and is a free tutorial by Jeni Baker, you can find it here.

I love the script fabric :)

Here's Kylie in her dress, it fit her really well!

This is a great pattern, I've made it 4 times now :)

Spelling Bee Saturday, the letter "I"

Welcome to Spelling Bee Saturday!
My letter today, on the Fat Quarter quilt along, is the letter "I".
I is for icing, as they say in Canada.
I think they call it frosting in the US.
Either way, I bought it for the photoshoot and ate the whole thing!!!
Yes, you read that right, icing is my kryptonite :)

I is also for ice cream.
I love this cute little ice cream cone pin cushion that my sweet friend Joanna made for me.
The cone is ceramic, and her mom crocheted the cherries :)

Best of all, I is for Isabel, my grand daughter.
She is the cutest little ball of energy, and she is what my "I" is all about :)

I made a cute wall hanging for her bedroom.
It measures 36" long by 6" tall.

I used Bee Basics fabric by Lori Holt (I'm in love with that line!) and Riley Blake dots, pink on white.

I took these closeups so that you can see the individual prints :)

I used "Vintage Happy" by Lori Holt, for the butterfly.

Now for the announcement that I promised you!
I'm giving away a copy of Lori Holt's Spelling Bee book!!!
For a chance to win it, you can leave a comment on this post.
For more chances to win, you can go to my Instagram page here, and follow the directions :)

Spelling Bee Saturday, the letter "h"

This week is brought to you by the letter "h".
"h" is for horse.

Isabel, my 2 year old grand daughter, is so excited when she gets on the phone with her grandfather and I, that all she can say is "hi!" "hi!" "hi!"!!!
This letter is dedicated to her :)
Izzy was the inspiration for my little mini quilt, which I changed from hello to hi!

This is such a vintage phone, I don't think a 2 year old would know how to use it!

Here's my letter "h", I used Lori Holt's Bee Basics, and I especially love the teal color!

When I see this "hi!", I can always hear Izzy's breathless voice in my ear :)

I love Lori's book, Spelling Bee, and all of her other books as well!
She is such an inspiration to me, and such a fun and cute person :)
I would also like to thank the Fat Quarter Shop for this fabulous quilt along!

Stay tuned for a big giveaway next week!
