Needle Book

I made this little needlebook for a sweet friend of mine.
The pattern is by Amy Sinibaldi of Nana Company.
Amy designs for Art Gallery fabric and she made this tutorial in October 2011.

My friend is a modern quilter, so I tried to make this book as modern as I could,
even though I added vintage buttons and rick rack.

Here's the inside, the theme is green :)

The little patchwork squares are 1" finished, all Denyse Schmidt fabrics except for the teal one.

I hand quilted the back and the spine of the book,
giving it more of a "zakka" look.

You can see the other needle books I've made
here, here, here, here, and here.
The tutorial can be found on my Pinterest board here
Thanks for following me and I hope you are inspired to make a needlebook :)

Cute little Needlebooks

post signature
I've made a few of these needle books, I really love them!
You can see them here, here, here, here, here and here.
This is the coolest one I've ever made!
Sometimes when I design a project, I try to force myself to think outside the box.
This is one of those times....the "afro girl" is Cotton and Steel fabric.
The little cherry in the bottom left corner is so adorable :)
You can find the tutorial for this needlebook from Amy Sinibaldi, on my Pinterest board here.

The back has 12 little 1" finished squares.
I tried to "peek a boo" interesting little prints.

I think the yellow hand stitching really compliments the little prints.
I used an unusual pointed antique button for the closure.

I used wool felt for the inside and embellished it with buttons, pins, ribbon, lace and linen.

Here's the second needlebook I made last week.
I use this little Japanese print a lot, I think it's so cute!
I added a sparkly Riley Blake button.

The inside has pale yellow wool felt and I added lot of colorful ribbon and buttons.

These little books aren't difficult to make, but there's a lot of little things to sew on them, so they're a little time consuming.
I think they make a great gift for someone you really, really like :)
I definitely need to make one for myself one of these days!

Needlebook and tutorial

I love this little needlebook, it's the fifth one I've made :)
You can find the tutorial over here on my Random Tutorials board on Pinterest :)
The tutorial is by Amy, and this is her blog, Nana Company.
Amy is so creative, and she makes the cutest things with very fine details and handwork.
I personalized each one of my needle books, none of them are exactly alike.

You can see my other needle books here, here, here and here :)
(I hope I copied all the links correctly!)
I love the little peek a boo pieces.
Do you see Little Red Riding Hood on the top left?
I hand quilted around the squares with white perle cotton floss.

I used antique buttons, and I especially love the button I used for the closure.
The elastic is a hair elastic from a pack that I bought at Target.

I'm really sorry about the upside down photo...
I tried and tried but I couldn't get it to rotate.
Oh well, you get the idea!
Some sweet little heart pins, decorative buttons from Riley Blake, and decorative ribbons.

I'm definitely not finished making these little needle books.
I love them so much and the people I've made them for have cherished them :)
That's worth all of my time :)

Needle book with tutorial link

I made this little needle book for my friend for her birthday :)
I really think it's the cutest one I've made!
The little red car with 2 little faces in the windows, and I backed it with a piece of linen and hand stitched around it.
Have you ever shopped at Anthropologie?
It's one of my favorite stores!
I save the ribbon handles from the shopping bags and I used one to trim the bottom of the cover.
I stitched on 3 little mother of pearl buttons and used an unusual diamond shape, antique button for the closure.

Inside the book are 2 pages of felt.
I added many different little adornments and scalloped the edges of the felt for more detail.

The back of the book is made of 12 little 1" squares and I hand stitched them all.
See the hen in one of them?

The inside lining is little dogs, a 30's print.
I know my friend loves dogs :)
If you would like to see the other needle books I've made from this tutorial, you can see them here, here, here, and here.

Needlebook and Tutorial and a Winner!

I made a little needlebook, and by little, I mean little!
It only measures 3"X4" which makes it even cuter!
I used some Japanese fabric for the cover and fussy cut a little piece of Japanese fabric for an accent on the cover.
I ironed some interfacing on the back and just top stitched it on.
I sewed a little daisy trim on the bottom of the accent and a little cupcake ribbon tab at the top.

There is a tutorial for this needlebook at Nana Company.
You can find it on my Random Tutorials Board on Pinterest, here.
I love the inside!
I sewed on some little embellishments to make it look "fancy".
There are two pages of felt, the other pages can be used for pins or needles.

The back is adorable!
Little 1" patchwork squares that are stitched by hand.
I'm going to give this needlebook to someone special :)

The winner of this lined drawstring bag is.......
DRUMROLL  PLEASE!

I don't have your email, so leave me a comment with your email address and I will contact you.

Congratulations, I hope you enjoy the bag :)

Needlebook Tutorial

Before I begin this needlebook post, I need to say something to any of you who might be looking for my "paperdoll quilt" post.
Due to Christmas and a new grandbaby and life in general, I am not able to finish the paperdoll quilt at this time.  I will dedicate Friday's post to that quilt asap.

I saw this sweet little needlebook on Nana Company quite a while back and pinned it to my "Want to Make It" board on Pinterest.
I love every single thing that Amy creates :)
I finally got around to making one and I had so much fun making it!
The tutorial is here.

I loved choosing vintage fabrics and cute little embellishments for this project.  I made it as a gift for a young woman who loves ♥ Anthropologie.  I tried to make it as interesting and unique as possible.  Notice  all the details?

I added a double pocket on the back side of my front cover.
I made it more of a sewing kit that a needle book.

I originally had silver safety pins here, but I found some pink ones at JoAnn's and used them instead.

This is my favorite page!
Leaf pins, velvet rick rack with little x's embroidered on it.
Sparkly buttons with two trims of ribbon.
I like the swatch of linen that the needles are pinned to.

I added another pocket to the back cover.

I chose each little square with great care!

The back cover looks cuter with some hand stitching.

The needlebook is smaller than it looks.  It is only about 3"X4".
I was able to squeeze all of these supplies into the needlebook/sewing kit.
I loved making this little needlebook and would like to make some more for my daughters  and daughters in law, all 5 of them!
Oh, and one for me too!
